After hearing a lot on both sides I finally was starting to believe the scientists who said it was about 3% human caused and the rest was a natural cycle since they have evidence of other planets in the solar system also heating. It looks like the cycle might be over since this is the coldest winter in a century in lots of places.

Cave, I was beginning to think that we were in a cycle of warming that comes and goes with the centuries, due to the reporting you mentioned above. My questions were, what are the major causes, and how much of it was to human activity? Now I see that we may have been duped. Thanks for the link.

Are the world's ice caps melting because of climate change, or are the reports just a lot of scare mongering by the advocates of the global warming theory?

Scare mongering appears to be the case, according to reports from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that reveal that almost all the allegedly “lost” ice has come back. A r, are almost back to their original levels.

The things we learn here. The army was good at retreating to fight another day during the revolution so I think Romney did the right thing. I can't wait for him to sail back.

Speaking of Romney, did you know the British warship HMS Romney was in Boston Harbor before the American Revolution?

Then later it was near John Paul Jones' ship 'Bonhomme Richard'. Sir John Anstruther who owned a mansion on the north shore of the Firth of Forth was worried that Jones might attack. He had a cannon and shot to protect himself but no powder so he sent his yacht out to borrow a barrel of gunpowder from H.M.S.'Romney' which was nearby. The yacht mistook the 'Bonhomme Richard' for the 'Romney'. In return for information on coastal defenses innocently given by the boatman, ironically Jones gave him the gunpowder!

Eight days later, on the night of 23rd September 1779, John Paul Jones fought his most famous battle when he engaged H.M.S. 'Serapis' and the 'Countess of Scarborough' off Flamborough Head. It was during this battle when asked if he wished to surrender that Jones gave the reply "I have not yet begun to fight!"

The Romney ran aground Nov 19, 1804 but the crew was saved. I don't know how to tie this in to today, but a little nautical jargon for Romney... Batten down the hatches! Unfurl the main mast! Bring 'er into the wind! Steady men, fire on my command! You believe in Miracles Huckabee?!? You wanna fight McCain!?! Let us now begin to fight! (Oh yeah, too late... He threw in the towel. Sorry people.) He sailed away but he'll be back to fight another day.
