Now What?

Posted by Terrie Soberg under: Presidential Election 2008 .

Good morning. Or is it?

Okay, it’s the day after Super Tuesday 2008. The results are in and what a bunch of hooey! Who believes this stuff? Dare I write, VOTER FRAUD? Oops, did I say that out loud?

Romney is going to stay in the race until the Convention. Ron Paul’s numbers are very low. The collusion between McCain and Huckabee will continue. Hillary and Obama still have a lot of duking it out before there is a decisive winner on that side. So the question is, what do we do next? What can we, in our small (blogo)sphere of the universe, accomplish? Our country is obviously going to hell in a handbasket, so we can either stand idly by or do our best to influence the world for good. I am open to suggestions, people. Comments?

2-07-2008  Note: I edited out the derogatory names I used earlier in frustration in order to remain in keeping with the purposes of our blog. My apologies to anyone who may have been offended.

OK,
I have calmed down a little. I came up with a hypothesis to balance my suspicion. Maybe the California voters just decided NOT to continue voting after the eastern results came in. That would explain the early exit polls saying it was so close and then having the actual returns come in so different.

I am trying to keep myself honest and not foment a revolution based on paranoid suspicion only. I just hope some pundits comment on the disparity of the exit polls and the results so I can at least feel it is being addressed to some degree.

I wasn’t even going to get on here today because I was so discouraged. First Fred, now this. But I guess it has already become a habit. Besides, where else would I go to talk about wanting to preserve freedoms? What I think is funny is how mad my parents are. They are so sure there has been voter fraud. Lots of people in Florida feel that way. With 340 hundred thousand Independents voting illegally there and lots of other weird things that happened and no one in a position to do anything who cares, it is sad. But after all the reports from all over about yesterday they are definitely yelling foul. It is foul. Anyway we can’t give up wanting to save our country. I’m just not sure what we can do.

We keep supporting Mitt. As upset as I am with Huck, his wins make it more than possible for there to be a brokered convention. That will give us a long time to get the truth out there and change delegates minds. I know we are upset about the irregularities but Mitt cannot even hint about any of that so we just go on. I have thought about it a lot and I have decided that under no conditions will I vote for McCain. I believe I am accountable before God for my vote and I take it seriously. If he is the nominee, I will write in Mitt’s name.

Cavetrollhead, I’m glad you’ve calmed down. I have too but that doesn’t mean I can forget what Ann Marie reported from San Diego, or the article I read about the city attorney from L.A. or what I heard a woman say from Arizona or the impossibly huge changes in numbers in Delaware and more. I guess there is nothing we can do about it but I decided to accept the challenge from this blog and not be afraid to keep my eyes open. I won’t be shut up because I am afraid of labels. I work for myself so I don’t have to be afraid of my co-workers thinking I’m a nut but I really hope that I have grown enough lately not to knuckle under to peer pressure even if I was surrounded by people that disagreed with me.

I think that what we do since we have to compete against the press and also an unethical voting machine, is to come to places like this and make comments wherever we can on the internet to get the truth out there.

Now What? Everybody here gets marginalized. We will all be painted with the same brush. I’m glad I didn’t put my last name here. Buying into one conspiracy theory like your voting fraud allegation means we are seen as buying into all of them. So where do I pick up my 9/11 Truthers button?

Cavetrollhead Says:

6 February 2008 at 11:25 am.

Cameron, I just can’t understand why the exit polls had less than one percent difference statewide and the results had just about every county go for McCain. Have you heard any major pundit mention it?

Peter, I am not afraid to put my last name on here. It is Hall.

Peter I am not a 9/11 truther. Voter fraud is something I have studied. There are court cases proven on this. We know it happens in other countries. Sometimes UN observers are sent in to try and keep elections honest. Do you really believe that the politicians in this country are so noble that they would never stoop to this? Sorry friend, too much documentation on this.

E.E. Says:

6 February 2008 at 11:53 am.

We’ve talked about this, Peter. Believing in one conspiracy doesn’t mean we believe in all of them. There are lots of conspiracy theories I don’t believe in. But don’t you want to have backbone enough to admit that it is possible for there to be an occasional underhanded deal? The New England Patriots got caught filming signals. That was a conspiracy to cheat. Does this mean every single Patriot was in on it? No. It only takes two to make a conspiracy. If we believe New England did this does that mean we believe that all of professional football is corrupt? I don’t think so.

Peter get over yourself.

We need to be positive and we need to be polite. Mitt is showing a great example in this. He is not complaining, not making accusations and we need to be the same. Here is a paragraph about the gathering in MA last night:

“On TV, you didn’t see Romney’s energy, as he jumped from the stage to work the crowd. Nor, watching on TV, did you get a sense of the palpable lack of blame and recrimination in that room. This primary season has gotten really ugly — but, as I circulated, I couldn’t hear any booing or swearing when a state was announced for McCain or Huckabee (or Clinton or Obama, for that matter).”

Mac Says:

You are right E.E. I shouldn’t let Peter get to me. Just isn’t a good day. Tomorrow I’ll be upbeat.

Thanks E.E. This is what we like to see happen. We don’t want to act like parents and control the comments section. We want all of you to do that and hope that you get what we hope to do. It is obvious that most of you do. For those who don’t, that’s okay because your comments help us to clarify our views.

Ron Paul Backer Cries Foul In Brooklyn

NY Daily News
Wednesday February 6, 2008

Steve Miller, a 27-year-old Brooklynite for Ron Paul, just called in to report that poll workers at PS 180 (57th and 16th Avenue) wrongly informed a voter who wanted to cast a ballot for the Texas Congressman that there were only two Republicans on the ballot.

MIller, who is a volunteer poll-wacther for Paul, said the woman tried to vote on a machine, but was given an emergency ballot when the machine malfunctioned. She was then informed by “multiple” poll workers, who repeated their claims to Miller, (“right to my face,” he said), that Paul wasn’t on the ballot.

Matt, don’t say, . . “friend”
It sounds like McCain telling someone where to go. “My Friend” is the new political speak for telling someone where to go.

Sharon Anderson Says:

I guess if lies are repeated often enough and fervently enough, people will start to believe they are true.

Black is white, white is black.
Good is evil, evil is good.
McCain represents conservative republicans. (This must be true since his senior campaign advisor says so.)
Exit polls are meaningless.
The Constitution and traditional family values are obsolete.
Etc. etc.

What next? We must be sure out personal lives are in order, love and strengthen our families and those close to us, and hang tough by continueing to stand for true principles and respectfully and kindly educating others so they will not be swayed by the lies. Remember, we will held accountable for our own lives but not for the actions of those who refuse to to listen to the truth.

Carrie Says:

6 February 2008 at 1:44 pm.

Matt don’t say friend.
Sharon great stuff. I am trying to do that.

Rush had the courage to use the word conspiracy but then even he shows he is a little afraid of doing that because he said that the word conspire means to work together for an objective. I liked that so well that I wrote it down.

CindyL. Says:

6 February 2008 at 1:59 pm.

Now What? I’ll tell you what I think we do now. We support Mitt because the things he does now will position him for 2012. We will need him desperately then because the country is going to crumble under a democrat or a McCain; but I repeat myself.

Joy Bischoff Says:

6 February 2008 at 5:59 pm.

E.E., I want to support what you said about not having to swallow every conspiracy if you believe in one of them. A lot of people, I hate to say, are too ready to believe everything once they see one example of underhanded dealing.

Roy wrote a paper and circulated it in Utah when we were state delegates there. It was researching into the claim that Governor Mike Leavitt was in cahoots with Rockefeller. Mike worked hard for state’s rights, believing, as do we, that the federal balance of power was not in line with the Constitution. Extremists began writing articles stating that Mike was trying to get a Constitutional Convention on the matter so that he could help the Rockefellers over throw out freedoms. They even said that David Rockefeller was bank rolling his effort in state’s rights. Roy researched the matter and wrote about it. This effort was a part of the business of the state and needed no bankrolling. Roy shredded every feeble argument point by point. I was very appreciative when Mike, whom I knew as a child, wrote him a long thank you letter. Since then, we have been more careful than ever to swallow any conspiracy theory that is thrown around and would urge everyone to research from primary sources before jumping to conclusions.

Cameron Says:

6 February 2008 at 10:14 pm.

Speaking of people being afraid of a Constitutional Convention to change the Constitution, here is a quote by Mike Huckabee I thought of when I read that:

“[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards.”

Joy I think you should take your last comment and post it as a blog. It is important.

Our Mission Statement

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
