Romney Helps Rescue Girl

Posted by Phillip under: Elections 2010; General; Presidential Election 2012.

So many people talk about Mitt Romney being a cold, emotionless person. He is rather shy in putting out his inner qualities. A lot of people are like that and we shouldn’t be judgmental. Instead, let’s help spread his true character. The following story is an amazing example of the kind of person he is.

Government Gone Wild

Posted by Russ Castleberry under: Presidential Election 2012.

My friends,  This is Unbelievable.  I wish Romney would talk about this issue – it is real.  It is scary.  It must be stopped before it kills the country….and it is done without mentioning Bush or Obama.

If you seldom watch a forwarded video, I urge you to watch this one. The numbers will amaze you. It’s rather short so it doesn’t take long to view it:

Romney’s Big Gaffe? Or was it…

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012; World Economy.

Of course Mitt could have phrased it better, especially knowing that most of the media is an early election machine for President Obama…but in essence, he is correct. The middle class needs the focus right now economically. The very poor and the wealthy have their basic needs met in most cases (not all) but the middle class is hurting tremendously.

Years ago, I called a radio show when Governor Mike Leavitt was a guest. I told him that I felt that the middle class did not get the help that the upper and lower class does. He talked about programs for the poor. I told him that I understood there were safety nets for the poor, but the middle class has struggled.

I believe that one of the reasons so many mothers must work outside of the home while their children are little is because wages have not kept up with inflation, especially real estate values. Romney is the first politician that I have heard specifically address this problem, and I am thrilled.

Romney is also being criticized for wanting minimum wage increased. For years I have looked for the crux of why there is such tension between the classes with a tendency for many people to move toward socialism. I believe the answer is found in an LDS scripture from 3rd Nephi. In reads that those who oppress the hireling in their wage are sinful. If workers were paid more, then there would be a multitude of great results which I do not have time to go into now. I am happy that Romney is addressing this whole issue.

Congratulations to Mitt

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

What a thrill to know that with all the negative media spin and Newt’s cry of ‘liar’, the people of Florida used their own reasoning powers and backed Mitt Romney. As I was holding my sick granddaughter and watching the reporters discuss the win last night, I couldn’t help but laugh. Two reporters said how well Mitt did in his speech and thought it was his best so far, helped by his obvious enthusiasm. Not long after, another set of reporters discussed how poorly that speech was delivered and how flat Mitt seemed. Media spin can make your head spin until you decide to step off their merry-go-round and think independently.

Also last night, I was both amused and frustrated, watching the media taking a wait and see stance about whether Romney would be able to turn away from his terribly negative campaign and beginning discussing issues and focusing on Obama. Apparently, they truly do believe we are so stupid, with such poor memories that we have already forgotten that Romney had been doing that very thing until the negativity against him in South Carolina made it necessary for Mitt to defend himself and expose Newt’s terrible record. And as we have discussed here before, the media was pressuring Mitt to do just that, and now have conveniently forgotten that little point.

How refreshing it is to see so many Americans learn to evaluate the bias of the media. I have more hope in the future because of you, thanks.

Mitt Did Not Lie!

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Phillip passed along this important information. Help us inform the public of the truth about Newt.

In light of Newt’s new ad that claims he was exonerated and essentially calls Romney a liar again: PASS THIS LINK ALONG FAST. He was guilty
Gingrich fails to admit that Newt himself
copped a plea bargain to make the other 83 charges go away.
In fact he was not exonerated on other charges and admitted to lying to the ethics committee and he was found GUILTY of breaking rule 45 repeatedly. “Charges dropped” doesn’t mean not guilty. He would have likely been found guilty of much more.

Remember that Clinton acquitted by the Senate in HIS impeachment. I guess Clinton was not guilty too?
Newt and his surrogates just keep the Pious Baloney coming.

Florida Game Changer Looming

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Barring some strange twist, Romney should win Florida on Tuesday. If this happens, the large amount of delegates, and the huge moment should all but ensure his GOP nomination. The ugliness has, however, given a lot of ammunition to Obama for the future dog fight.

Romney is now being sharply criticized for negativity. How sad that the media does such a poor job vetting some of the candidates. I want to be more careful about avoiding a hateful attitude. I do not hate Newt Gingrich, but I do feel that he is a serious danger to our country. Since the press was not vetting him, and he was attacking Romney so intensely, Mitt had to fight back. The unbalanced smear campaign of both Newt and the media in South Carolina made this necessary. I have found myself becoming too heated and want to pull back the intensity.

I will try in the future to stick more to plain facts when it comes to Mr. Gingrich, and avoid inflammatory speech. His pas record is important if we are to know how he would lead and whether or not he is honorable and honest. The following excerpt from an article by Albert Hunt is case in point. It helps us see the real record.

Gingrich May Be Trying to Win One From the Gipper: Albert Hunt

To listen to the candidate, the Reagan Revolution of the 1980s was about the Gipper and Newt.

“I worked with President Reagan in the entire recovery of the 1980s, “Newt Gringrich declared in a recent debate of Republican presidential hopefuls. He frequently talks about the way he and Ronald Reagan” changed” Washington.

The former House speaker has cited Reagan 61 times in 19 debates; he casts the contest against former Governor Mitt Romney as one between a “Massachusetts moderate” and a “Reagan conservative.”

“Gingrich had absolutely nothing to do with the Reagan Revolution,” replies Lou Cannon, who as a journalist covered the entire Reagan presidency and wrote the best biography of the 40th president, “President Reagan: The Role of a Lifetime.”

Joe Scarborough’s first hand account of Newt

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Joe Scarborough, an MSNBC columnist, cannot be called part of a generic establishment plot against Newt Gringrich.  A lot of the media and powerful people are pretending that there is a nefarious scheme by the Establishment to destroy Newt. Actually, it is the people like Joe who had close associations with, or know those who were associated with Newt that are raising a warning voice.

Too bad we are not hearing information like what is in Joe’s article below from the general media. Instead, they are giving Newt all the free air time he wants to pander and attack and defend. Many uninformed Americans are falling for it, but luckily, Newt shot himself in the foot during the last two debates and that is hurting him with some voters. Help us get the message out to your friends and family that personal first hand accounts like the following, are the real reason Gingrich has little support from those who have known him.

The Newt I know

Joe Scarborough

I first met Gingrich 17 years ago at a Destin, Fla., fundraiser held in my honor a few weeks after Newt declared that I was too conservative to win the general election. But after I won the primary against the moderate woman he anointed, there he was in Florida looking supremely bored and a little put out that he was having to sit through another politician’s speech…

Three years into his speakership, the man who helped draft the Contract With America began trying to undo some of that document’s key provisions. The government shutdown had badly damaged the speaker’s brand and he went to work trying to raise his 27 percent approval rating.

In April 1997, Gingrich told The New York Times he was ready to be a kinder and gentler Republican by negotiating away the very tax cuts that he had once called “the crown jewels of the contract.” Soon, conservatives were being pressured to vote for big spending appropriations bills. In his final speech from the floor of Congress, Newt Gingrich lashed out wildly at the same freshmen who had made him speaker — mocking us as cannibals who made up “the perfectionist caucus.”

Joe Scarborough and 10 other Republicans decided to stand up for the Contract with America and demand tax cuts. Newt was furious.

Newt did not take the rebellion lying down. He immediately summoned the sergeant of arms to drag the 11 rebels down to a Republican caucus meeting in the bowels of the Capitol basement, where Newt lined us up in front of a packed room of seething House members who were now missing the first day of their Easter recess because of our insurgency. Gingrich then began screaming and demanded that the 11 of us account for our behavior.

Joe explains that the Republican crowd were shouting insults at he and the other 10 until Steve Largent took the podium and began speaking.

Steve spoke softly about how he signed a contract with the Seattle Seahawks and remembered shaking the hand of the team’s owner after the deal was done. A few years later, the NFL Players Association went on strike. But Largent told the mob, who were now transfixed, that he crossed those picket lines because he signed a contract and gave his word. Largent told the group that a few years later, the NFL players went on strike a second time and he was once again one of the few NFL players to keep reporting for work. For Steve, it was a matter of principle.

The beautiful NFL Hall of Famer then quietly moved in for the kill.

Turning to the Speaker, who a year earlier had been named Time Magazine’s person of the year, Largent said, “Newt, you were the one who drafted the contract and then told us to sign it. Now, you’re the one pressuring us to break it. But Newt, if I wasn’t intimidated by the thought of 250 pound linebackers who wanted to kill me every time I crossed the field, why would I be intimidated by you?”

Joe said that this incident marked the end for Newt. About a year after this, Newt was driven from his position “and sent into a political wilderness from which he emerged 14 years later on a Saturday night in South Carolina.”

Gingrich’s precipitous fall from power was the result of arrogance, self-satisfaction and a fatal tendency to flit from issue to issue — and even from core conviction to core conviction — in the seeming belief that if he spoke well enough (and used as many adverbs as possible), no one would notice that he was doing something he had equally eloquently (and equally adverbially) opposed before.

Joe goes on to confirm reports that Newt smeared Reaganomics, personally attacked him, and “called Reagan’s approach to the Soviet Union an utter failure a few years before the U.S.S.R. was relegated to the dustbin of history”.

These unpleasant facts do not stop Newt from trying to embrace the same policies he once denounced (one wonders if he even remembers the contradictions at this point), but that’s what makes my former colleague so fascinating. And so troubling.

Republican Party at Risk

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

As I watch Mitt Romney handily winning the debate over Newt Gingrich, I decided to post the following quote by Bob Dole:

“If Gingrich is the nominee it will have an adverse impact on Republican candidates running for county, state, and federal offices,” Dole said. “Hardly anyone who served with Newt in Congress has endorsed him and that fact speaks for itself. He was a one-man-band who rarely took advice. It was his way or the highway.”

Dole, who served in the U.S. Senate when Gingrich was House speaker, harkened back to Gingrich’s style during his time in Congress.

“Gingrich had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall,” Dole said. “He loved picking a fight with Bill Clinton because he knew this would get the attention of the press. This and a myriad of other specifics helped to topple Gingrich in 1998.”

Too many skeletons

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

There has been no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the Democrats will be able to drag out so many skeletons from Newt’s closet that he would never stand a chance to defeat Obama. My concern is, knowing how fickle the voters are, many people may vote for Gingrich just to spite Pelosi, just like they overlooked Newt’s “open marriage” problem to spite the media. Our nation is not as politically mature as they once were. I am concerned about our nation.

Pelosi”s remarks in a CNN interview:

John King, CNN: “You make your case there passionately for President Obama. But also understand that this is a tough reelection climate for any president, Democrat or Republican in this economy. Because of your history with Speaker Gingrich, what goes through your mind when you think of the possibility, which is more real today than it was a week or a month ago, that he would be the Republican nominee and that you could come back here next January or next February with a President Gingrich?”
Rep. Nancy Pelosi: “Let me just say this. That will never happen.”

King: “Why?”

Pelosi: “He’s not going to be President of the United States. That’s not going to happen. Let me just make my prediction and stand by it, it isn’t going to happen.”

King: “Why are you so sure?”

Pelosi: “There is something I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him that’s their prerogative. I don’t even think that’s going to happen.”
