Personal Responsibility

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril; Presidential Election 2012.

After the South Carolina Debate, we had a blogger make a comment that I want to address. He/she felt that I should not question Mitt Romney on his stance regarding The National Defense Act. This kind of thinking, in my opinion, smacks of old Europe where class division was the order of the day. We were not to question our betters.

In a monarchy, the decisions of the king are not to be questioned. We have a Republic that is based on the rule of law. Benjamin Franklin made it clear that we must diligently work to keep this form of government. Personal responsibility is requisite and that means we must each do our part to vigilantly scrutinize our representatives to ensure that they adhere to the rule of law.

This new law places domestic terror investigations and interrogations into the hands of the military and this opens the door for trial-free, indefinite detention of any person, including American citizens, as long as the government decides to call them terrorists. The potential for misuse is tremendous.

“ It is better to risk saving a guilty man than to condemn an innocent one. ”

— Voltaire

Four years ago, police in Missouri were encouraged to stereotype drivers with certain bumper stickers. One they were told to look out for was “Ron Paul” stickers. Laws like the NDA tend to muzzle people and create fear that we could be considered domestic terrorists simply by excercising our freedom of speech. This sets a dangerous precedent and starts us down a slippery slope.

Mitt Romney needs to open his eyes and understand the crucial importance of following the Constitution. Many people, mostly liberals, say that the Constitution is a living, breathing document. That is code for; we live in a different world and therefore we can throw out our rule of law for modern situations. Wrong.

I have researched what our founders went through to give us the inspired Constitution. They spent years of in-depth study to identify eternal principles of freedom that apply to any people with a desire for free agency and personal growth, as well as national opportunity. These principles can be applied to any society, not just an old agrarian society that we had during the founding. Also, they build in a way to adapt for any needed changes without throwing out their document. No politician has the legal right to put his own wisdom above a God inspired Constitution. And we must not lay aside our responsibility to think and put a politician, even one we really like, above the Constitution. It is our duty to scrutinize their actions and not be sheep.

The Ghost of Ron Paul

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

The ephemeral presence of Ron Paul was finally glimpsed on the outskirts of the forum during the last half of the South Carolina debate. For years, many Americans have been aware that Ron Paul is minimalized by the press. Tonight they reached new heights.

Having come in a high third in Iowa, and a strong second in New Hampshire, Paul should have earned an inner podium and not been relegated to the outside. Paul should have had more questions, especially early on. They added more later because of the general outcry on the internet. They also forgot to add him to a chart showing twitter responses.

Everyone should now clearly see that the bias is over the top. The media treats Ron Paul like a ghost. Very few people in the press are dedicated to the honest preservation of the Constitution…sad.

South Carolina Debate

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

What a fiery debate. As I write, I am listening to Fox News analysts discussing their twitter poll of who dodged or answered questions. They are missing two major points in their discussion. Romney was the only one who was majorly under fire. The debate began that way with 30 minutes of vicious attacks. If this had happened to the others, then they would have had different poll results. Second, from everything I have seen on comments all over the net, there are virulent attacks constantly on Romney. He is the front runner, a Mormon, and there is a target on his back.

Now that I have defended Romney, I have a bone to pick. As much as I respect Mitt Romney, there are issues I disagree with. One that I feel extremely passionate about is The National Defense Authorization Act. Mitt said that we simply need to be careful whom we elect so that this power is not abused.

There once was a king named Mosiah. He changed his monarchy to a form of a republic with judges representing the people. He taught that people cannot expect to always have righteous kings. Similarly, we know that we do not always have righteous presidents. Obama would certainly abuse this act. All a president needs to do is arrest people who are irritants and proclaim them enemies of the state and those people loose due process. The Constitution is thrown out the window by this law. It is dangerous. No one who supports that unconstitutional law can claim to be a pure Constitutionalist. Mitt Romney needs to open his eyes. All one has to do is study Biblical prophecy and we know that checks and balances must be guarded because evil people will be abusing their powers. Ron Paul is correct on this issue and I hope Governor Romney can become more balanced on his aggressive military stance. Yes, we need a strong defense, but must be careful that it does not bleed over into offense.

Yahoo censors my comment

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Yahoo posted a story about Romney giving money to an unemployed woman. I read the comments after the article and was shocked to find 99% or more to be negative and vicious. I made a few replies but finally was disgusted enough to make my own post. I made sure it showed up, and then left for a few minutes. I decided to go back and retrieve my comment to blog here. I searched carefully but the comment was gone. Below is a shorter comment I added but the point I want to make is that when people go to see what others think of the political scene, they may be getting a skewed perception because of secret censorship. This is dishonest, and sadly, many people are influenced by prevalent attitudes.

Please help spread the message that Romney often performs acts of quiet service that he does not have publicized. Let’s do it for him. It is admirable that he remembers the Savior’s words not to let the left hand know what the right hand does.

My second comment: Yahoo censor, please leave my comment this time.
For five years I have blogged that Romney should let the public know about all of the acts of service he does. Now reading these comments, I see he was right all the time. This judgmental attitude is the reason he asks people not to share what he does but this time it was too public to hide. I will no longer encourage him to publicize his service.

Speaking out of both sides of his mouth

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Newt Gingrich is so arrogant about his own intelligence that he actually believes the rest of us lowly Americans are not smart enough to remember things he said yesterday, the day before…the day before that…

The following quote has him changing his story again. Mitt Romney flipped on some positions years ago but never flopped. Gingrich is a flip-flop master but even more, he is very dishonest. Any of you that have followed his melt-down this last week know the following quote is untrue.

Gingrich pulls back on Romney attacks in SC

By JULIE PACE
Associated Press

Gingrich acknowledged drawing the ire of some conservatives. But he insisted their anger was over his calls for auditing the federal bailout of the financial industry to see who got the money and why.

“When you have crony-capitalism and politicians taking care of their friends that’s not free-enterprise. That’s back-door socialism,” Gingrich said during remarks to older voters at a senior citizen’s expo.

A Warning From the Past and Present

Posted by Bryon under: Constitution in Peril; General; Judaeo-Christian Values Under Attack; Patriotic Quotes.

I had to share these things I found at www.specialforces.com. With all the danger we face from foreign powers why are we not united? Is there something keeping United State Citizens from coming together?  Here is a few warnings that this is exactly what is happening.

These words spoken by Abraham Lincoln are as true today as they were then.
“All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined… could not, by force, take a drink from the Ohio… At what point, then, is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us, it cannot come from abroad.”

Are we becoming Russian Bolsheviks?

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril; Presidential Election 2012; World Economy.

After digesting current media and social trends, I have pinpointed a definite pattern that mirrors a portion of history from Russia. And it is no coincidence, but a cunningly crafted path that is and will be a major factor that shapes the 2012 presidential race.

With careful manipulation, in the early 20th century, the Bolsheviks turned the masses against anyone with wealth. Those who had a genius to create jobs and become successful were turned into enemies.

This is the same method being used today in the US which strongly implies; The common man is good, and anyone who becomes successful is evil and are incapable of understanding us.

What this country needs is a leader who knows how to trim the fat and put in motion a turn around in economics. The best person for the job is one who has a genius for doing this. Romney has the track record. Let’s not hate him because he is good at leading, at turning around failing businesses, Olympics, and soon a nation. Let’s not be Bolsheviks.

My take on the GOP race

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: General; Presidential Election 2012; Rejecting Herd Mentality; Uncategorized.

Four years ago, I wrote a lot about the dangerous and growing divisiveness in America. For some reason, I seem to have a good memory from my childhood. Therefore, I can confidently report that our society has changed in many ways, and I want to discuss one of the most critical changes…vicious polarization.

Polarization has been a goal of conservatives and liberals alike for many years and they have succeeded. The swinging pendulum has swept so far from right to left now, that most people can no longer relate to or communicate with those who have differing opinions. Decades ago, the general attitude was to treat those you disagree with respectfully even though you can politely disagree.

A friend of mine recently lost a facebook contact because he had a different political opinion. The woman told him that if he disagreed with her, then he basically did not deserve to be her friend and she would try to encourage others to dislike him. What has happened to our reasoning powers? How to we have a decent future as a country with attitudes like this?

With this premise, I come to my main point. I am closely following the GOP race for the nomination. Never have I seen the attitude; “if I find anything I disagree with, or discover any imperfection in a candidate, I will hate him and could never support him”. Really America?

I want to fight this destabilization and ask you to join me…no matter which candidate you support. Okay, after I have gone after Gingrich, maybe his supporters will not listen, but the reason I did that is because I believe he is part of the inside group working to destroy the Constitution, and this I cannot support.

So if I say I like Ron Paul, do some of you throw out anything good I say? When I say I like Mitt Romney do I lose the other side?

This is a year of hate and we need to be sane and not join that kind of thinking. Because Romney likes to work from inside the system is he evil? I do not think so. Because Ron Paul has been against the war is he a bad person? I sent out an email before we went to war describing exactly what I believed would happen based on my years of studying the Middle East which is my college major. Everything I wrote happened exactly as I predicted. So do I agree with Mitt or Ron? Neither and both. I will describe my position in another post but for my current purpose, I want to point out that although I disagree with some of the positions of each man, I respect them. They do not have to be perfect. I also respect most of what I see from Rick Santorum even though I disagree with his big government positions. He is not evil.

Could you join me in jumping off the political pendulum and spreading a different message this political season? We do not need to become a nation of hate and we can respect people even if we do not agree with every position they espouse.

Calling the Press Out

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Willful ignorance is no excuse…a few days ago I posted an article showing that Gingrich had drawn first blood, attacking Romney in a well publicized article. Now the press is saying that Romney has made an unprovoked attack against Gingrich and that Newt has told his staff that they will be nice and not attack back. Does Newt think we are that stupid that we cannot even remember a few days back? Are we that stupid? And why is the press supporting this when they know it is a lie?

The answer is simple. Newt has been crowned by the press as the winner of the Republican race. Why would they do that? There is a very simple answer. They did the exact same t hing four years ago with McCain. They suddenly threw their support to McCain and Romney lost his lead. Then, once McCain had the nomination, the press turned against him. He had a checkered past and it was easy to clear the way for Obama.

It worked once, will it work again? How gullible is America?

As you read the following excerpt, remember the article I blogged on this week where Gingrich smears Romney.

Gingrich Tells ABC News: ‘I’m Going to Be The Nominee’

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA — A very confident New Gingrich asserted to ABC News Thursday afternoon that he will be the Republican presidential nominee…

The bold assertion came after Gingrich refused to criticize the Republican challengers who have begun attacking him and his record.

TAPPER: “How do you respond to Republicans who say if you don’t draw distinctions with Mitt Romney and others who are attacking you, if you don’t point out their perceived vulnerabilities, Barack Obama and the Democrats sure aren’t going to share that same reluctance and you are doing Obama a favor by staying positive?”

GINGRICH: “They are not going to be the nominee. I don’t have to go around and point out the inconsistencies of people who are not going to be the nominee. They are not going to be the nominee.”

TAPPER: “You are going to be the nominee?”

GINGRICH: “I’m going to be the nominee. It’s very hard not to look at the recent polls and think that the odds are very high I’m going to be the nominee. And by the way I don’t object if people want to attack me, that’s their right. All I’m suggesting that it’s not going to be very effective and that people are going to get sick of it very fast. And the guys who attacked each other in the debates up to now, every single one of them have lost ground by attacking. So they should do what they and their consultants want to do. I will focus on being substantive and I will focus on Barack Obama.”

The Ultimate Flip-Flopper

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2012.

Newt is part of the same insider crowd as Obama but he is more dangerous. Wolves in sheep clothing are more dangerous than outright liberals. Please watch the following video.

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
