Who knows if McCain is dumb? I don’t think anyone makes it to where he is without having it on the ball. But he is running on empty with conservatism and his candidacy is disenfranchising conservatives who have nowhere else to go. I know plenty of patriots – none of whom are qualified for the presidency IMO.
But I respect you Hawk for making your case here. If you can change our minds, more power to you.

Some of us may be willing to support McCain if he chooses Romney, Thompson, or some other conservative for a running mate, but I am not sure I will.

McCain doesn’t seem dumb to me. Some people don’t do well in school is all. He is a great patriot and that counts the most to me.
