Are We About Saving America or the World?

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: General; World Affairs .

Terrie has noticed on her web server that we have people reading the site from all over the world. IP addresses from Yugoslavia show up as well as from many other countries. Terrie and I wanted to let our friends in other parts of the world know that although we focus on the United States Constitution and the problems facing Americans, we hope all of you can find truths that apply to you also.

We are convinced after years of study that our Founding Fathers were able to boil down politics to its most basic elements. The principles that are found in the Constitution are true for all mankind and we hope all of you can be a force for good in your countries by spreading these eternal truths:

We are endowed by our Creator with rights that are a gift from Him. The right to rule stems from the people and not from the government nor from a religion, nor from a birthright of blood. We believe we should be free to pursue happiness in an atmosphere of equality and trust. We believe that freedom of speech must be upheld or all else is lost. We believe in freedom of religion for without that, all other freedoms will eventually be lost.

On this website we focus on America because we are responsible to take care of the problems in our own backyard first and foremost. Then we turn to help others. It is the same as parents needing to care first for their own children, and then reach out to help those in the community. Our friends from Serbia are our fellow community. While we help others, we don’t forget that our first priority is to our family so we continue to care for them in the meantime.

To all of you from other countries, feel welcome in our cyber home and may God bless you with your challenges. May God bless you as you seek His truth that applies to all aspects of life. And may we as a world move closer to believing and showing that In God We Trust.

I echo Joy’s sentiments. This world is so filled with turmoil and we want people to have a stable place to come to share feelings and concerns. As we bear one another’s burdens and sustain each other in times of trial, God will bless us and help us. We need His help now, more than ever.

Yes, we must trust in God and honor him by keeping his commandments, for if we loose our Constitution and freedom, what will we have to give to the rest of the world? Nothing, but an example of how we messed up. I think our friends from around the world can help us appreciate what we have and inspire us not to give up. Thanks to all of you. We will be praying for you and hope you will also will pray for us. Courage!

I applaud these sentiments. Many in other countries believe that Americans are naive and too idealistic and that our Constitution could not work for them. I agree that the rights that our outlined in that document are natural rights that come from God and are meant for all mankind. This can’t be forced on a people like we are trying to do in the Middle East where they are dedicated to their Islamic law. First comes education. People need to come to understand each of the truths mentioned above and then to internalize the message. Without the passionate love for and desire to achieve freedom it can’t be sustained.

I really apprecitate the hard work Terrie and Joy have done for this site. I am sure that it takes a lot of time and energy to write so much and put it together. The site looks so good and it’s easy to read and find things. I hope more people will find out about it.

Terrie mentioned a while ago that Joy is really sick. How are you doing, Joy?

I agree Carrie.

Anon88, I agree with you about the Middle East. Democracy can’t be shoved down people’s throats when they aren’t prepared for it in their hearts and minds. It will take time. I think it is kind of like Christianity. It isn’t meant to be forced on people. All truth has to come from the heart.

People spend so much time debating and discussing politics but most never recognize that there is a fundamental foundation of truth and without finding that, all the rest is just words. It reminds me of one of my favorite verses in the New Testament that I wish I could quote to my colleagues:

“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” 2 Timothy 3:7.

This shows that there is a big difference between learning things and finding actual truth. The men who founded this nation did find actual truth and without learning and understanding those truths, no government will sustain the proper environment of growth for its people.

Well said, professor. I couldn’t agree more. And would I ever love hearing you say that to your colleagues.

Carrie, thanks for the compliment. Terrie put together this site and does a great job. And as far as I am concerned, I keep a great attitude most of the time so I’m fine. Mind over matter.

Our Mission Statement

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
