Socialism Swallows GM
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril .
Today my husband saw a message scrawled across a wall in Vegas…”Fight Socialism!” The divide continues to widen. When I read commentary on articles depicting obvious movement toward socialism by our administration, there are raging and hateful word wars. Many are waking to the fact that we are racing toward a loss of freedom. Others mock and ridicule and say that those who believe our government is moving toward socialism are delusional.
It has been a little embarrassing reading the online arguments. It reminds me of when we were children yelling “I’m not either, you are!” Many of the comments say something like, “if you ignorant idiots think anything Obama is doing is socialist, then you need to go back to school because you didn’t learn a thing.”
I am seriously concerned about the mental welfare of our nation. I am seeing a rapid deterioration in basic knowledge of political reality.President Obama is swallowing up freedom at a pace that shocks us. We must try hard to educate those around us. With the tools of the internet, it is inexcusable that people do not know the most fundamental definition of socialism. Following is the first hit on google for the definition of socialism:
Merriam/Webster Dictionary
“socialism”
Main Entry:
Date: 1837
1. any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
How could one miss the obvious application of that definition when reading things like the following article:
GM bankruptcy plan eyes quick sale to gov’t
By Chelsea Emery and Tom Hals
NEW YORK, May 19 (Reuters) – General Motors Corp’s (GM.N) plan for a bankruptcy filing involves a quick sale of the company’s healthy assets to a new company initially owned by the U.S. government, a source familiar with the situation said on Tuesday.
The source, who would not be named because he was not cleared to speak with the media, did not specify a purchase price. The new company is expected to honor the claims of secured lenders, possibly in full, according to the source.. . .
The board of the new company would be established with the tacit approval of the government. Fritz Henderson, who took the helm of GM earlier this year after the government pushed out Rick Wagoner, would likely head the new company, the source said.
