Government fines jailed Border Patrol agent’s family

After successfully winning a two-year prison sentence against U.S. Border Patrol Agent Jesus E. Diaz Jr., the Justice Department is now trying to collect a $6,870 fine from his wife, saying it should be paid “immediately” — even though the judge signaled she would have a grace period.

In a notice sent last week the Justice Department said the fines were imposed by the court that found Agent Diaz guilty and sentenced him to prison for improperly restraining a 15-year-old suspected of drug smuggling.

“We strongly urge you to pay this debt immediate,” said the notice, which was received by Diana Diaz, who is also a Border Patrol agent.

I found this on, “The Voice Of The Soldier” news letter at www.specialforces.com. I just wanted to share with you why I love guns. They protect me so I will protect them.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.

From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control.

From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938

From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.-

China established gun control in 1935.

From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated-

Guatemala established gun control in 1964.

From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970.

From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956..

From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.-

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:

1: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

2: Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent..

3: Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety as decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are ‘citizens’. Without them, we’re ’subjects’.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED! If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends. The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

As North Korea has been saber rattling the last few weeks, I haven’t felt too concerned for the near future because they seem to lack the ability to back up their words. However, I do want to make clear that the time could come when North Korea becomes a serious threat. I have read some writings of Kim Jong Il, the president, and was amazed at his obviously extreme mental illness.  We do seem to have the capability of knocking down anything they send up right now so hopefully there is no reason to panic. My biggest concern would be the day they could send a nuclear warhead up high enough to create an EMP blast that would shut down everything electronic. That would bring chaos. So, without panicking, we do need to keep our eye on this lunatic.

N Korea threatens US; world anticipates missile

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea threatened Wednesday to wipe the United States off the map as Washington and its allies watched for signs the regime will launch a series of missiles in the coming days.

Off China’s coast, a U.S. destroyer was tailing a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar in what could be the first test of U.N. sanctions passed to punish the nation for an underground nuclear test last month.

The Kang Nam left the North Korean port of Nampo a week ago with the USS John S. McCain close behind. The ship, accused of transporting banned goods in the past, is believed bound for Myanmar, according to South Korean and U.S. officials.

The new U.N. Security Council resolution requires member states to seek permission to inspect suspicious cargo. North Korea has said it would consider interception a declaration of war and on Wednesday accused the U.S. of seeking to provoke another Korean War.

“If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will … wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all,” the official Korean Central News Agency said.

Obama says Iran’s energy concerns legitimate

LONDON — President Barack Obama reiterated that Iran may have some right to nuclear energy _ provided it takes steps to prove its aspirations are peaceful.

(It is completely unreasonable to believe that the West hating Iranian leadership would allow intensive inspections in the dozens of facilities throughout the country. We know from past experience how easy it is to hide military secrets.)

In a BBC interview broadcast Tuesday, Obama also restated plans to pursue direct diplomacy with Tehran to encourage it to set aside any ambitions for nuclear weapons it might harbor.

Iran has insisted its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity. But the U.S. and other Western governments accuse Tehran of seeking atomic weapons.

(Apparently, the president did not hear about Ahmadinejad’s rant in September of 2006 at the U.N. where he discussed the return of the twelfth Imam. Then in November, he gave a speech explaining that his revolution would pave the way for the return of the Imam. The Shi-ite belief is that there will be a great revolutionary war that will bring the return and usher in an era of peace for Muslims.)

“Without going into specifics, what I do believe is that Iran has legitimate energy concerns, legitimate aspirations. On the other hand, the international community has a very real interest in preventing a nuclear arms race in the region,” Obama said.

The comments echo remarks Obama made in Prague last month in which he said his administration would “support Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy with rigorous inspections” if Iran proves it is no longer a nuclear threat.

(How can we trust Ahmadinejad when he has publicly stated that Israel should be wiped off the map, and he has predicted their destruction? He is a madman.)

The president has indicated a willingness to seek deeper international sanctions against Tehran if it does not respond positively to U.S. attempts to open negotiations on its nuclear program. Obama has said Tehran has until the end of the year to show it wants to engage.

“Although I don’t want to put artificial time tables on that process, we do want to make sure that, by the end of this year, we’ve actually seen a serious process move forward. And I think that we can measure whether or not the Iranians are serious,” Obama said.

Obama’s interview offered a preview of a speech he is to deliver in Egypt this week, saying he hoped the address would warm relations between Americans and Muslims abroad.

“What we want to do is open a dialogue,” Obama told the BBC. “You know, there are misapprehensions about the West, on the part of the Muslim world. And, obviously, there are some big misapprehensions about the Muslim world when it comes to those of us in the West.”

(Actually, Mr. President, there are huge misapprehensions about the West on the part of the Muslim world, and some misapprehensions about the Muslim world by the West.)

Obama leaves Tuesday evening on a trip to Egypt and Saudi Arabia aimed at reaching out to the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims. He is due to make his speech in Cairo on Thursday.

(Muslims respect a position of power and confidence. The apologetic weakness shown by our president puts us in a dangerous position, especially since he is not treating our traditional allies warmly which also weakens our place in the world.)

In what’s been called a “shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate,” President Barack Obama bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia at the Group of 20 summit meeting in London.

“The bow was an extraordinary protocol violation,” The Washington Times observed in an editorial on Tuesday.

“Such an act is a traditional obeisance befitting a king’s subjects, not his peer. There is no precedent for U.S. presidents bowing to Saudi or any other royals,” the editorial said.

Obama offered King Abdullah a deep and prolonged bow from the waist when he met him at the summit, which brought together the leaders of the world’s largest economies on April 2.

The story about Obama’s unusual gesture has gotten scant media coverage in the United States, but a Spanish TV broadcast was picked up on blogs and has created an Internet stir.

“No Americans of any station are required to bow to royalty,” the Times stated. “It is one of the pillars of American exceptionalism that our country rejected traditional caste divisions.”

The Times editorial also opined that Obama’s bow “to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques does not help his image with those who believe he is secretly a Muslim, and why he chose to bow only to the Saudi king and not to any other royal remains unexplained.”

For instance, Obama did not bow to Queen Elizabeth when he first met her last week in London. Subjects of the crown may bow to the monarch but are not required to do so.

First lady Michelle Obama also broke protocol during the Obamas’ trip abroad when she put her hand on the queen’s back. The move caused a bit of tempest in the British press, but was quelled when the queen put her hand on Michelle in what a Buckingham Palace spokesman described as a “mutual and spontaneous display of affection and appreciation.”

( Iraq :  What would happen if the U.S. won a war but the  media didn’t tell the American public?  Apparently, we have to rely on a British  newspaper for the news that we’ve defeated the  last remnants of al-Qaida in Iraq. )

London ’s  Sunday Times called it ‘the culmination of one  of the most spectacular victories of the war on  terror.’  A terrorist force that once  numbered more than 12,000, with strongholds in  the west and central regions of Iraq, has in  over two years been reduced to a mere 1,200  fighters, backed against the wall in the  northern city of Mosul. The destruction of  al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI) is one of the most  unlikely and unforeseen events in the long  history of American  warfare.

We  can thank President Bush’s  surgeStrategy,  in which he bucked both Republican and  Democratic leaders in Washington by increasing  our forces there instead of surrendering.  We can also thank the leadership of the new  general he placed in charge there, David  Petraeus, who may be the foremost expert in the  world on counter-insurgency warfare. And we can  thank those serving in our military in Iraq who  engaged local Iraqi  tribal leaders and convinced them America was  their friend and AQI their  enemy. . . .

But  where are the headlines and the front-page  stories about all this good news?  As the  Media Research Center pointed out last week,  ‘the CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News and  CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 were silent Tuesday  night about the benchmarks ‘that signaled  political progress.’  The war in Iraq has  been turned around 180 degrees both militarily  and politically because President Bush stuck to  his guns.  Yet apart from IBD, Fox News  Channel and parts of the foreign press, the  media don’t seem to consider this historic event  a big story.
