Anyone?

There are so many things to do each do and I feel sad when I think about all of the things I should be posting about each day, but miss out on. Glenn Beck has been doing an awesome job bringing to light the evils of our society.

Elections are coming up this year – are you aware of your candidates and their positions on issues important to you?

Health Care is at the forefront right now and Nancy Pelosi insists that it is going to pass, despite the fact that the majority of Americans want to have nothing to do with the current plans on the table. Have you made your voice heard?

It’s so easy to get caught up in day-to-day living, but we must remember are priorities.

Mine are God, Family, Country and then everything else.

What are yours?

Peter Anderson sent me an article about health care. I wanted to share a little with you. How disturbing to learn that our out of control health care costs began to get out of hand when the government got involved. I feel as if I should have realized this before. I have seen many instances of padding the bill by some in the medical community. So the solution that is being peddled is a huge dose of the same poison that got us into this situation.

Obama’s Health Cost Illusion

The President’s main case for reform is rooted in false claims and little evidence.

The main White House argument for health-care reform goes something like this: If we spend now on a hugely expensive new insurance program for the middle class, we can save later by reducing overall U.S. health spending. This “tastes great, less filling” theory could stand some scrutiny, not least because it is being used to rush through the greatest social spending program in American history.
What if this particular theory turns out to be a political illusion? What if the speculative cost savings never report for duty, while the federal balance sheet is still swamped with new social obligations that will be impossible to repeal? The only possible outcome will be the nationalization of U.S. health markets, which will mean that almost all care will be rationed by politics.

* * *

Since Medicare was created in 1965, U.S. health spending has risen about 2.7% faster than the economy and on current trend would hit 20% of GDP within a decade. Every public or private attempt to arrest this climb has failed: wage and price controls in the 1970s, the insurance industry’s “voluntary effort” in the ’80s, managed care in the ’90s.

I want our readers to hold my feet to the fire on what I am about to suggest. Remember it, come back and check the facts in a few weeks. I maintain that the main stream press has and is being incredibly irresponsible regarding their coverage of the swine flu situation. First, they over hyped and engaged in fear mongering. Now they are out right lying to lull the public into a false sense of security, therefore making it harder for people to feel a need to be prepared.

Screaming headlines about a devastating world wide pandemic put many people on edge for days. There is a real chance this virus will fizzle, and if not, and this is a virus that comes in waves, as is common, then unless there is a fast mutation, this first wave will be light. Over reaction will bring needless fear and also will damage our economy more than is called for by the situation. Under-reaction by false reporting will bring about the eventual loss of life, because the time will come, perhaps this fall, perhaps in a few more years, when we will have the prophesied plagues hit the world. Inaction because of what I call, “the boy who cried wolf syndrome” is being insured by the way the media is handling this crisis.

I have read a few reports by doctors in Mexico who are very upset that the numbers have been lied about for political and economic reasons. All these reports are in agreement that there have been many more deaths and cases contracted than is being reported by their health ministry. Now, suddenly, we are supposed to be stupid enough to believe there have only been 7 deaths instead of 159. Do not be fooled. There is a glaring problem with their numbers. They are not testing those other deaths for swine flu because they do not want to report them as official. Most people coming to hospitals in Mexico City are now being turned away and they are testing few patients for the disease, thereby, managing their numbers for world consumption. Tourism is their third largest industry and they are desperate to calm fears to stem some of the damage to that industry.

Mexico is not alone in their irresponsibility. Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, reported yesterday that many hundreds of school children are sick with swine flu symptoms in his city. Almost none of these people are being tested for the flu, which is incredibly irresponsible. Three schools are shut down. I have read reports from people in many states who say they are being told of probable local cases, but these are not making the national news. Why? My guess is that there are three reasons. I will give only two here. First, tonight is President Obama’s address to the nation to celebrate his first 100 days in office. Yesterday there was a drastic drop off in coverage of the outbreak, and a major manipulation in the numbers game began. Nothing must distract from the glory of our beneficent leader tonight.

I believe the second reason to be so that the World Health Organization can give a little more time for the financial community to get their house in order before allowing the public to know how wide spread this is or could become. The reason the obvious human to human spread in the United States was ignored was because when verified, the WHO had to raise the alert level which is supposed to automatically put precautions in place that could hurt the economy. With the SARS outbreak, they did this and it did tremendous damage to the economies of China and Canada. This is an understandable concern but now after all the hype, then the strange switch to down playing things, there is now general apathy. Even though they just changed to the level five, most people have decided this is a non-event. If the WHO does not want to put the automatic responses in place since this is so far such a mild outbreak, then they should change their standards, but do not lie to the public to justify their actions.

The truth of the matter is this; we hope this fizzles but just in case…knowledge is power, and if ye are prepared ye shall not fear. I have no fear regarding this situation because I spent the time to educate myself on the subject and put together a pandemic treatment program that can be found above under Notable Notes. So far, this virus is presenting in a similar manner (albeit milder) to Avian Flu. The treatment would be effective for either. My family is ready so we are completely calm.

It is very important to let you know that there is a chance this will turn ugly in the fall. In the 1918 Pandemic, the first wave in the spring was very mild and few took notice. In September the second wave hit and killed millions and stunned the world. The similar symptoms, age group effected, and pattern are eerily similar so it would be more than foolish to dismiss this.

We hope, we pray, but we do not say, “if God wants me to die, I’ll die but I won’t worry about it”. Fine, do not worry, good. But do a little research because God helps those who help themselves and if you have a child that could have grown up to do something wonderful but they die because you stubbornly refuse to prepare, then you may regret your inaction. If not this fall, then some day you will thank the Lord that you used wisdom.

Mike Leavitt told the public when he was head of the Department of Health and Human Services, that a severe pandemic would overwhelm health care and people would be forced to treat themselves at home. The government would not be able to save them. Our nanny state is unable to handle the scenario and Leavitt was completely up front about this. Take personal responsibility. When this dies out, do not smirk and say, “I told you so”. Assume a second wave will come this fall and get ready. You buy insurance just in case. This is a surer bet because the scriptures are clear on this subject, we simply do not know the timing. Complacency and ignorance kill.

Only 7 swine flu deaths, not 152, says WHO

A member of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has dismissed claims that more than 150 people have died from swine flu, saying it has officially recorded only seven deaths around the world.

Vivienne Allan, from WHO’s patient safety program, said the body had confirmed that worldwide there had been just seven deaths – all in Mexico – and 79 confirmed cases of the disease.

“Unfortunately that [150-plus deaths] is incorrect information and it does happen, but that’s not information that’s come from the World Health Organisation,” Ms Allan told ABC Radio today.

“That figure is not a figure that’s come from the World Health Organisation and, I repeat, the death toll is seven and they are all from Mexico.”

Ms Allan said WHO had confirmed 40 cases of swine flu in the Americas, 26 in Mexico, six in Canada, two in Spain, two in Britain and three in New Zealand.

Ms Allan said it was difficult to measure how fast the virus was spreading.

She said a real concern would be if the flu virus manifested in a country where a person had had no contact with Mexico, and authorities were watching all countries for signs of that.

“There is no pattern that has emerged at this stage to be able to say that it is spreading in a particular way or it is spreading into a particular country … the situation is continuing to evolve,” she said.

HERE

The following is a little joke from a site I follow to educate myself on influenza from scientists and HCWs. When the new numbers came out of Mexico last night, one of the guys posted this:

This just in -

Mexican casualties, having been rescinded from the list of the dead, resume normal activities:

While everyone’s attention was being focused by the Obama administration and the media on the “possible pandemic” of swine flu virus, Nancy Thorner at American Thinker swept back the curtain to reveal that Democrat congressional leaders and the White House spent “the weekend hammering out final details of the proposed $3.5 trillion FY 2010 budget bill, with no Republican input, in a push toward final approval of the 2010 budget proposal by Wednesday.”

A curious coincidence that the media stayed focused on the swine flu “epidemic,” but barely a mention about a $1.2 trillion dollar health care budget contained within the overall package?

Thorner wrote: “Because health care is one of the big drivers of government spending in Obama’s budget – nationalized health care for Democrats has been a dream since FDR – Democrats have decided to use a process called “reconciliation” to pass the budget bill in the Senate, (reconciliation waives the need for a super majority vote of 60; a majority vote will do) so there is no chance that Republicans will be able to derail the bill. Also distressing is that debate will be limited without the possibility of amendments. This sounds like a power grab to me.”

Radio and TV host, Sean Hannity believes there is a serious chance that our government will use the crisis of swine flu to press forward with their plans to nationalize health care. Hannity says that this emergency could fast track the plan without the scrutiny that would make the White House uncomfortable. For instance, President Obama’s health plan would cover illegal aliens. He also stated that this would be the biggest power grab in our nation’s history.

Hopefully Sean is just paranoid. Hopefully there is no deception whatsoever in this administration and they have no desire to take advantage of a crisis. Hopefully history will not repeat itself and there are no longer power hungry leaders who will threaten our freedoms.

While we do not know if the cases of flu reported in Mexico are the beginning of an epidempic or pandemic, this might still be a good time to assess our level of preparedness not only for widespread illnesses but for other emergencies as well.

For advice regarding protecting yourself in a pandemic you can go to: http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=752 This site describes a feasible time table for a pandemic outbreak and gives information about how to effectively quarantine during different stages of a pandemic, for example

” 1. The first and most basic stage is to go home lock the doors and stay there. DO NOT try to seal up your home with duct tape and plastic as you will not have enough oxygen to breathe within a very short time. This method is used for chemical events where you need to be indoors for a very short period of time. Most quarantines will last days if not weeks and months. “At this stage you can actually go out in to your front yard or back yard and breathe the air just fine just as long as you do not breathe someone else’s air that might be infected with an airborne communicable disease or virus.

“All infected people should remain a good distance (minimum 20 feet) away from you and anyone else sheltering with you.
“It is important to remain quarantined for the suggest length of time that the certain biological requires. This will vary from biological to biological. This means no going to the store or to work or church or school or . . . STAY HOME.”
This information makes especially relevant the counsel to begin our food storage by getting 3 months of the food our families normally eat.

The above site also lists Fourteen Preparedness Points and other preparedness steps we can take.

* More epidemiological info needed for pandemic alert change

GENEVA (Reuters) – The World Health Organization said on Friday it was calling an emergency committee to advise whether outbreaks of swine flu in humans in the United States and Mexico constituted an international public health threat.

A deadly strain of swine flu never seen before has broken out in Mexico, killing as many as 60 people and raising fears of a possible spread across North America.

“WHO will convene, sometime in the very near future, an emergency committee under the International Health Regulations, which will consider whether or not this event constitutes a public health event of international concern,” WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl told Reuters in Geneva.

Hartl also said that 12 of 18 samples taken from victims in Mexico showed the virus had a genetic structure identical to that of a swine flu virus found in California.

But more epidemiological information was needed before any change to the WHO’s pandemic alert level, currently at ‘3′ on a scale of 1 to 6, he said.

“The technical people in our Organization are saying that before we know how pandemic a virus can be, we need to know how efficiently it is transmitting and how widespread it is,” Hartl said.

Hopefully this is not going to turn out to be a pandemic but since we are over due and the CDC constantly is telling us it is a matter of when, not if, I thought we should keep an eye on this. Numbers are always unreliable at the beginning of this sort of thing and of course change with time, but they are now reporting 60 deaths in Mexico and not the 20 from this report on the video. The worst news, that is not on this report but that I read in a number of articles, is that there are a large number of health care workers infected. This is a serious sign of the virulence of this virus.

HR20-New Mother’s Mandated Mental Health Test-JUST PASSED HOUSE!

April 20, 2009

A sweeping government policy for all new births in the United States has just passed the House of Representatives and is now headed to the Senate. The Mother’s Act, if passed, will mandate that all new mothers be screened by means of a list of subjective questions that will determine if each mother is mentally fit to take their newborn home from the hospital.

Just imagine that after your child is born, you are told that you can’t take them home since a multiple choice questionnaire wasn’t answered correctly. Just imagine being told that the only way you can take your child home is if you or your spouse goes into treatment or on anti-depressants which we know causes psychosis, delusions, and even homicidal thoughts. It just doesn’t make sense. Unfortunately, this bill is on a fast track–No public debate, no public disclosure of the broad impact on our society and that is why we need you to act now!

The Mother’s Act violates our Constitutional right to privacy and your right to liberty and it is just outright dangerous. That is why we need you to help stop this. We urgently need you to call and email each Senator on the HELP Committee and tell them you STRONGLY OPPOSE the MOTHER’S ACT and that you are OUTRAGED that there was NO public debate or disclosure on the impact this would have on our society as a whole.

Please call the following Senators on the HELP Committee and tell them that you want the Mother’s Act to die in committee.
