Cap and Trade…Obama Wins
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril; Environment .
Below is a poem by Sharon Anderson. She sent that along with a blog asking for our help to defeat the Cap and Trade bill in congress. I am sorry to say I was engaged in other activities the last few days and did not get to my email. I apologize to Sharon for not sharing her well done blog but I do want to but up this excellent poem that she wrote. With the passage of this bill, it was a sad day today for the American people, whether they know it or not.
Speaking of Cap and Trade
Newspeak: Renaming the Crisis
by Sharon Price Anderson
Winter brought us record lows;
global warming is resolved,
but now the planet may implode–
“climate crisis” has evolved.
Don’t bother with statistics,
tables, charts, and math,
or scientific evidence.
Don’t confuse us with the facts.
We don’t need “green jobs” anymore,
but we want to get ahead,
so stimulate the economy
with “new energy jobs” instead.
American ingenuity
is equal to this task.
Just tell us what we need to do,
so we can do it fast.
We’ll walk to work and buy less gas.
SUVs are too exotic.
Let’s be self-sufficient, prosperous,
and oh, so patriotic.
Forget the cost of heating;
Cap and trade is not a tax.
Reduce your carbon footprint.
Don’t worry, just relax.
Sacrifice your freedom
to community and collective.
Listen carefully with open minds
to Obama’s new directives.
new•speak (‘nü-”spEk, ‘nyü-), noun, Usage: often capitalized. : propagandistic language marked by euphemism, circumlocution, and the inversion of customary meanings. Etymology: Newspeak, a language “designed to diminish the range of thought,” in the novel 1984 by George Orwell.
