European Union Looking to Shift from its Democratic Roots
Posted by Roy Bischoff under: World Affairs .
It looks like the European Union government is trying to become more powerful and less responsible to the people. That is the nature of government, which must be guarded against. It sounds like the bigger countries want to try to start running rough shod over the smaller ones. The key phrase below is Ireland is only 1% of the EU. When they joined the EU they were assured that their vote counted because unanimity was required. If that changes to a majority system (especially if it is proportional to the size of the country) then they are suddenly disenfranchised.
EU Constitution author says referendums can be ignored
By Bruno Waterfield in Brussels
Future referendums will be ignored whether they are held in Ireland or elsewhere, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, the architect of the European Union Constitution said.
The former President of France drafted the old Constitution that was rejected by French and Dutch voters three years ago before being resurrected as the Lisbon EU Treaty, itself shunned by the Irish two weeks ago.
Mr Giscard d’Estaing told the Irish Times that Ireland’s referendum rejection would not kill the Treaty, despite a legal requirement of unanimity from all the EU’s 27 member states.
“We are evolving towards majority voting because if we stay with unanimity, we will do nothing,” he said.
“It is impossible to function by unanimity with 27 members. This time it’s Ireland; the next time it will be somebody else.”
“Ireland is one per cent of the EU”.
Mr Giscard d’Estaing also admitted that, unlike his original Constitutional Treaty, the Lisbon EU Treaty had been carefully crafted to confuse the public.
“What was done in the [Lisbon] Treaty, and deliberately, was to mix everything up. If you look for the passages on institutions, they’re in different places, on different pages,” he said.
“Someone who wanted to understand how the thing worked could with the Constitutional Treaty, but not with this one.”
France and Germany are putting pressure on Ireland to hold a second referendum which would allow the Lisbon Treaty to come into force before European elections on June 4 2009.
Mr Giscard d’Estaing believes “there is no alternative” to a second Irish vote, a view shared by Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President.

Great analysis Roy.
No alternative to a second Irish vote means that there is no alternative except to force Ireland to fall in line.

When you study the history of who put together the European Union and how, then you know that this was destined to be a dictatorship from the beginning. The Council of Princes set up after WWII to do this do not believe in democracy.

I can see how it would be hard to get things done needing a unanimous vote but if that is how they talked the little countries into joining then they really are giving up their sovereignty if they don’t stick to that. It couldn’t even pretend to be a democracy even if it seemed like it with majority voting because that would mean that the citizens of any country could all be against something but the other countries could ignore their wishes. A very bad idea all around and one I am very afraid we are headed to with the North American Union.

The Bible mentioned that there will be a world-wide government (it will be they who attack Israel for 3 and half years before the Lord stands on the Mount Olive). I cannot help but am amazing that we have at least three different organizations getting together. First, we have the Muslims with their “eternal” hatred against God’s choose people (Jews, for sure, but they too hate Christians). Then we have this European Union. Since there already are talks about how Muslims are taking over European countries. Perhaps it will be they who eventually would take over European Union. Then we have the Liberals in the West Hemisphere (Obama and the likes in North America (Canada too is seeing its shares of “Obamas”), Chavez and the likes in South America, and Mexico). Anyway, it is interesting to see things come into place. Perhaps it is not they, but it is hard to say otherwise when the most basis of God’s plan, the families, is under attack already. There cannot be much time after many familial structures are destroyed.

World Wide Government is right. Those hungry for power are working with each other to solidify their positions. My personal opinion is that there will be ten powerful nations eventually emerge to control the EU and fulfill biblical prophecy.

We are barely able to govern the USA without division and violent decent, leastwise a whole world.
But now enters the computer, tracking devices, surveillance technology and we have the makings of world wide tyranny.
Sounds like a good book eh? But it is more possible than most realize. Twenty more years and the technology will exist to track the behavior of every human being weather he wants to or not.

We already have that technology. A friend of mine who does a little government work along side teaching told me I would be stunned to know how much surveillance is possible and is in fact being done on a massive scale. It is a poorly held secret and one I know to be true.

Well no surprise there.
I believe that some day every purchase we make will be traced. Cash will be phased out to make this possible. If you buy a gun, food storage, generator they will know where to come when they want to take it away.
The ostensible and perhaps true reason will be to track things that could be used to make a bomb, like chemical fertilizer or poisons. Homeland security would be able to track down possible threats but it will be used against the innocent too.
I believe that computers have something to do with the Beast from the bible and the mark of the Beast will be a scannable account number than is actually embedded on your person, (hence no one will buy or sell without the mark of the beast)
But I don’t know jack and will be the first to admit it, so don’t think I am a nut OK? It would make a good book hunh?

I think you are right Cavetrollhead.
