Oil and the Democrats
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: World Economy .
$4.00 a gallon. Who’s to blame?
Thanks to the environmentalists lobby and its influence on Democratic legislators in Congress, the U.S. has, for decades, been prohibited from drilling for oil in pl aces that we know contain billions of barrels of proven reserves.
Check out this map:
All of the ‘NO’ zones are places where the U.S. , thanks to the Democratic Party, is prohibited from drilling for oil.
But wait . it gets better.
*** China , Cuba , Canada and others continue to drill off our shores where US companies are not allowed to drill because of Democratic policies!
Yes, that’s right . China and Cuba are actively exploring oil fields 50 miles from Key West, Florida while U.S. companies are barred from working in this area because of U.S. policy. So, instead of allowing the most environmentally responsible companies to operate there and increase our domestic supply, China, who has a dismal environmental record, is preparing to suck our close, lucrative oil reserves dry.
Unbelievable.
Investor’s Business Daily recently explained how irresponsible the Democrats have been on the energy crisis. They lay into what they consider to be the worst Congress ever for … Failing to allow drilling in ANWR. We have, as President Bush noted, estimated capacity of a million barrels of oil a day from this source alone — enough for 27 million gallons of gas and diesel. But Congress won’t touch it, fearful of the clout of the environmental lobby. As a result, you pay through the nose at the pump so your representative can raise campaign cash.
~ Refusing to build new refineries. The U.S. hasn’t built one since 1976, yet the EPA requires at least 15 unique ’boutique’ fuel blends that can be sold in different areas around the nation. This means that U.S. refinery capacity is stretched so tight that even the slightest problem at a refinery causes enormous supply problems and price spikes. Congress has done nothing about this.
Thank you to Peter Anderson for sending this along.

Go for it, Angela! You might want to also send them the link I included yesterday so they can contact their Congressmen. Here is that information again plus a little bit more.
H.R. 2415 is a compilation of proposals for a free market approach to dealing with America’s gasoline crisis. The bill deserves cosponsorship support so that it will receive committee action.
a.. Allowing for offshore drilling in areas previously forbidden.
a.. Eliminating Federal obstacles to constructing refineries and providing incentives for investment in refineries.
a.. Suspending Federal fuel taxes when gasoline prices reach a benchmark amount.
a.. Promoting free trade with oil producing countries that outdated policies have prevented.
Instead of preparing to minimize the economic trauma to America of an increasingly likely global oil crisis many in Washington continue their quest for a socialist utopia through the cause of environmentalism. As gas tops $4.00 on the way to much higher, this is no time for Americans to let elitist social engineers put a permanent lock on what is probably the largest untapped oil field remaining in America. Oppose H.R. 39.
Each Representative in the US needs to be inundated with messages from his constituents about supporting the Affordable Gas Price Act HR 2415 and opposing the Arctic Wilderness Act HR 39. Let’s let them know what the majority of Americans REALLY want.

Let’s hold our Congressmen accountable.

We need to all be activists about oil because it effects everybody and because the MSM is doing nothing. I am disgusted to find out how far we have gone to cater to the freaking Chinese. This crosses the line so much. I can’t hardly believe it.

I’m not like some of you who are verbally gifted but I just want to say that this makes me mad and we really need to show we care and are willing to try and do something so let’s get a hold of our congressmen like Sharon said.

Okay poor starving college student can now officially not afford to go home on the weekends or just randomly whenever she wants.
It really ticks off said student the her own government is going to listen to a bunch of hippies instead of using common sense.
Solution to problem is get everyone mad at the hippies and the government and force them to get our own oil.
