Search the Scriptures
We live in a time when many of the prophecies concerning the last days are being fulfilled. Wickedness is increasing, there are earthquakes and other disasters, and men’s hearts are failing them (both literally and figuratively). I suppose that there are times when each of us wish things weren’t quite so “exciting.” I believe that one of the great challenges of our day is to remain optimistic and positive when everything seems to be unraveling.
Often we are reminded of the importance of reading the scriptures. I believe that being filled with inward peace and good cheer is among the many benefits we experience when we daily study the word of the Lord as revealed through His prophets. Prayerfully reading the scriptures can inspire us to make necessary changes in our lives and give us a divine perspective that makes it much easier to maintain a positive attitude.
Perhaps some of us have not recognized these by-products of scripture study. Why not try reading the scriptures each day for a week and then noting the difference it makes in your outlook? Imagine the difference such a habit will make in your life. Imagine the collective blessings that come, if each person who visits this site daily reads the word of God and makes a point of recognizing the attendant blessings.
. . . the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath send me. . . .Search the scriptures, for . . . they are they which testify of me.” (see John 5:36-39)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reprooof, or correction, for instruction in righteousness; That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Normally I just concentrate on finding news to post but I wanted to thank Sharon for this blog. She does a great job on Sundays and I especially like this one because I have noticed that whenever I read the Bible I don’t get so concerned over what is happening in the world. It is truly the answer.

Cameron,
I try to read scriptures every day and it makes a really huge difference in my life. I feel way happier and problems seem smaller. I think it is so sweet that you love to read the bible. I think it is totally sweet that people who come here feel comfortable talking about stuff like this.

Carrie I agree with you. I never thought I would have a regular association with Mormons and Catholics along with my fellow evangelicals. Maybe it isn’t face to face but it still gives me hope that people can come together. Anyone who loves the Bible is on my team.

Remaining positive and optimistic while everything is unraveling is the way to separate the brave from the cowards. Great blog, Sharon. Helps us to hold on to what is important and try to be stable while things shake around us.

This has been said before but it probably needs saying every once in awhile. Your Sunday format might not bring a lot of comments but it is appreciated. We need a break and Sunday is the day for it. Thanks Sharon for always doing a thoughtful blog and the quote blogs are great.
