Inevitability?

Obama ‘within reach’ of victory
Mr Obama has won more delegates in the primary contests so far |
Barack Obama has said he is now within reach of becoming the Democratic candidate for the US presidency.
Mr Obama has a majority of “pledged” delegates, who are won in primary elections, although he is still short of a confirmed overall victory.
US media have projected a win for him in Tuesday’s Oregon primary.
But his key rival Hillary Clinton has won Kentucky’s Democratic presidential primary by a large margin and vowed to fight on.
‘Popular vote’
Mr Obama chose to address his supporters on Tuesday night in Iowa, scene of this year’s first presidential selection contest.
“We have returned to Iowa with a majority of delegates elected by the American people,” he told his supporters.
“You have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for president of the United States,” he added.
I have mostly ignored the democratic race here on our blog but I thought I should at least acknowledge that it now looks inevitable that Barack Obama will be the nominee. Conservatives will be in the delicate position of attempting to expose Obama’s extreme liberal leanings without appearing to be playing the race card. As someone who has always championed racial equality, it is galling to be labeled a racists simply for pointing out political realities about a candidate who happens to be black. I would urge fellow conservatives not to be intimidated into wearing kid gloves on the issues in spite of false accusations of racism.

Glad you pointed that out Joy. You are right, it does make me hesitant to publicly be too critical of Obama because of the fear of being labeled a racist. We went over all the labeling stuff a lot this winter but it is easy to forget it. Thanks for the reminder.

Very good point. McCain is reluctant to go after Obama and the media probably won’t so it is up to conservatives to do it. And you are right that we will continue to be labeled as being prejudice because of it but we can’t let that stop us.

I don’t understand why Hilary Clinton is still fighting. Good point Joy, I didn’t really see people attacking Obama very often but I never thought of it this way.
