Obama Would Sell Out America

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2008 .

If Obama gets his way with taxing Americans to support the world’s poor, then he will get his wish as outlined at the bottom of this article. This man is the epitome of a socialist.

Obama camp spies endgame in Oregon

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama set his sights on November’s general election Saturday as he campaigned in Oregon, where he hopes to declare victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Obama has said Tuesday’s primaries in Oregon and Kentucky could mark the end of his drawn-out battle with rival Hillary Clinton, and his campaign pressed home that message by announcing a symbolic return to Iowa that day.

Iowa was the scene of the Illinois senator’s first victory in the 2008 presidential nominating race, and his campaign noted Saturday it is “a critical general election state that Democrats must win in November.”. . .

Pitching his message to Oregon’s environmentally-conscious voters, Obama called on the United States to “lead by example” on global warming, and develop new technologies at home which could be exported to developing countries.

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.

“That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added.

So we are supposed to settle for the lowest common denominator? We don’t try and lift the world up, we drag ourself down? What a strange thing to say that just because other countries don’t say OK to our lifestyle that means we have to lower our standard of living if we want to show leadership. Strange man.

In other words, Obama plans to bring the US down to the level of the rest of the world by compromising our food supply, our homes, and our transportation.

I believe most Americans want to help the world’s poor and I am one of them, but it can’t happen in the way that Obama proposes.
Digging wells to provide fresh water, offering humanitarian relief in times of disaster, supporting the perpetual education fund, and similar efforts are wonderful, but generally speaking, we can expect that the poor will remain poor in countries where governments are corrupt and refuse to follow the principles of liberty and free enterprise.

It is about as futile for the US to give away its resources in an attempt to eliminate global poverty as it is to try to bring the impoverished of the world to our country. Here is a presentation that shows how ineffective that would be. Check out this gumball presentation on minutes 8:00 to 11:12 of this 13 minute video on immigration.

Speaking of Immigration….Last week the Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Iraq supplemental appropriations bill along with an amendment by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) that gives amnesty to illegal-alien agricultural workers. The ‘Ag Jobs’ amnesty would allow about 3 million illegal aliens and their families to stay in the country for 5 years. The open-borders champions hope that if the illegal aliens stay for five years, it will be impossible to deny them U.S. citizenship. If this amnesty passes, it will open the door for even bigger waves of illegal immigration in the future!

It is dishonest and unfair to attach this illegal alien amnesty to the Iraq supplemental funding bill. There is no reason to grant illegal farm workers amnesty! There is already an H-2A program for temporary seasonal workers that honest farmers use to get extra help. There are no rotting crops and America will not starve if illegal workers are sent home — farmers will just be forced to pay Americans and legal immigrants an honest wage to do the work.

Only your Senators can remove this unnecessary and destructive amnesty from the Iraq war funding bill. The Senate may vote on this bill as early as Wed. May 21st. If you agree that this amendment is detrimental please contact your Senators today or tomorrow 202-224-3121 and ask them to ensure that this amnesty is stripped from the war funding bill!

Good job for the heads up Sharon. I hadn’t caught that. I’ll call my senators.

We should first worry about our own countries poor before we go and try to help everyone else.

In spite of his rhetoric, I doubt Obama would go any further than the other candidates in using taxpayer money to provide “welfare” to the world’s poor. Even many of his core constituents would not stand for that. Now, trying to give more welfare to America’s poor, that might be a different story, although even here, Obama would probably fall in line with the Congressional mood and not rock the boat too much. Obama is very liberal, but he’s also a political animal and has shown himself quite willing to play ball by the “establishment’s” rules. Where Obama probably would depart from the others would be in his willingness to talk to America’s enemies–the kind of grandstanding he seems to like. I don’t really fear that–talking is fine, so long as we have objectives and remember that they are our enemies. I might try it myself. While he’s more of an unknown quantity, I would actually prefer Obama to Clinton–eight years in the White House should be enough for the Clintons. Well, my two cents. And, to be honest, I’ll probably be voting for McCain, anyway :)

Tacking on the illegal alien rider to the appropriations bill is deceptive and infuriating and will (assuming Bush vetos the entire bill) waste a lot of time; but doing that sort of thing is a long-standing Congressional tradition. What we need, of course, is a line-item veto, but, given that the Court found the Line Item Veto Act of 1996 to be unconstitutional, that would require a constitutional amendment.

Sharon, you really do good things here and it is appreciated. Thanks for providing the number. I will also call.

Avatar, I like the way you think. I pretty much agree with everything you wrote.

There is such an agenda for erasing the borders that this illegal alien bill doesn’t surprise me. They will keep trying to sneak into the back door until they find a way unless the American people get a lot more vocal about. Only that is hard when the press won’t help. McCain is too devoted to erasing the borders for me to support him. I understand people voting for him because Obama is so wrong but I have a different statement to make and I do agree with Avatar about Obama not getting away with too much radical stuff because the establishment will reign him in. There is one point though, the establishment is trying to sneakily pull a lot of radical stuff themselves.

I can’t believe Obama came right out and said that and it makes me sick that the press isn’t calling him on it.

That is a defeatist attitude. Before I give anything up, I want to see Obama give up his mansion and most of his salary. What a two-faced hypocrite.

Both McCain and Obama will help use the environmental issue to hurt our economy and make us poor. I can’t tell which of them is bigger on that issue or maybe they are the same.

If Hillary doesn’t pull out a miracle, I am going to have to vote for McCain.
