Last Days

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: World Affairs .

I am going to go out on a limb here and suggest that we are fast moving into last day events. There are many experiences, both good and bad, to come for the world but I believe we still have a way to go.

In Matthew 24:48-50 , the Lord said:

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of

For someone to say that the Lord is delaying his coming, they need to believe conditions were past ripe for the Second Coming to have already occurred. I believe many people will lose faith as trials come and go, thinking that the Millennial reign should have begun. There are a series of prophecies to come, many ups and downs, so to get too focused on the finish line can cause us to expend our strength too soon. We need to pace ourselves and seek for peace and equilibrium as we watch the Last Days unfold. If we are steady, we can help steady others as things become more intense.

There have been a series of natural disasters just recently that strongly suggests we moving deeper into end times. The enemies of God will always try and answer away truth. Al Gore is blaming the fulfillment of prophecy regarding natural disasters on Global Warming. Either way, it wouldn’t matter because many times it is the actions of people that bring about fulfillment of prophecy. However, this does not mean the prophecies are answered away. So the underlying cause is not the issue, the key is that scriptures are being fulfilled. The cyclone, earthquakes, midwest flooding and tornadoes, the volcano depicted below, and many other events are witnesses that we are seeing definite changes. There is no need to fear if we keep the long view and we still have so much good to look forward too. If we stay focused on the Lord, then we will have that peace which passeth understanding to be with us, no matter what challenges we face.

Lightning bolts appear above and around the Chaiten volcano as seen from Chana, some 30 kms (19 miles) north of the volcano, as it began its first eruption in thousands of years, in southern Chile May 2, 2008. Cases of electrical storms breaking out directly above erupting volcanos are well documented, although scientists differ on what causes them. Picture taken May 2, 2008.

It’s hard to believe that photo is real and not Hollywood. It is so perfect to illustrate end time prophecies.

Good advice, Joy. In the days ahead it will become increasingly important to keep our faith and our focus.

For God hath not given us the sprit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

It is so cool to come to a political blog and be to talk about this kind of thing. Nice quotes Sharon. This kind of thing has been on my mind lately and I’d bet on a lot of yours to. It is crazy how much has been going on. Personally I don’t believe in the global warming hoax and I think it is the devil who wants people to believe that the Bible isn’t being fulfilled at all. It is just mankind itself that is making this all happen. I don’t believe it but like it says in the blog, even if that were the case it doesn’t matter. It is happening along with all the other things that are suppose to happen so it means the probably in our lifetime the Lord will come again. Pretty great really.

Morning guys.

I like the analogy about saving some for the finish line. I know a lot of people who think the second coming is right around the corner. They are reading things the way I am. If they think it is bad now, they are going to be pretty shocked when the really tough stuff happens. We don’t know bad yet. It makes sense that people like that would get tired of waiting and say the Lord is delaying his coming. There are all kinds of prophecies to go yet and it is a long race to run so I agree with the pacing ourselves idea.

Good morning Angela. Good point. Lots of members of my congregation are saying they think we are almost there but I agree with you. So much has to happen first and it isn’t helping people to make them think it is almost here and then when it doesn’t happen they will be discouraged and lose faith.

We need to be prepared. Crazy stuff is happening around the world and it is just going to get worse but we shouldn’t be scared. I like this line: “There is no need to fear if we keep the long view and we still have so much good to look forward too.”

i agree with jobob, we need to be prepared, but we shouldn’t expect The Lord to come really soon. I’ve heard some people say that He is going to come in 10-20 years, i worry about what is going to happen when He doesn’t come in that time, will they give up and begin to “eat and drink with the drunken”?

I was talking to this guy and he doesn’t believe all the stuff that is happening is any more than usual. He is so in denial. I love that spooky picture of the volcano.

My minister explains the verse about saying the Lord delaying his coming to mean that we shouldn’t say he delays his coming because it is soon. The rapture could be here any day and with all that is happening, this would not surprise me. After that there would be seven years for the rest of the world to go through the trials and then the second coming would happen.

I hope this isn’t offensive because I don’t want to debate but it seems to me that those verses probably mean just what they say. That people will start to goof off and not stay faithful because it will seem to them that the Lord is delaying. There is a lot to happen and when you read about the 3 and a half years of the beast, and the 3 and a half years of Armageddon and the seven years after when the weapons will burn and lots of others things from prophecies. So I can’t see how we would have only a little more than seven years left.

I really like this blog a lot. I agree that things are getting a lot worse but we still need to focus on the good and not be discouraged. Being positive for people around us is very important. Saving enough for the finish is very important. If we sprint when we are running a 5K then we give out and collapse.

It’s better to talk about what is happening rather than ignore it. Things are moving along and we do need to be strong and help steady other people. We even have things happening in our country and people who are scared right now because of tornadoes, fires and floods. If we can focus on living each day to the fullest and lifting other people then we will be all right. And it is true that this is only the beginning of a long road.

We have worked hard to make our blog a friendly place to visit. We welcome everyone to join in our conversations. We are non-denominational and accept people from both sides of the political aisle, as long as everyone is treated with respect and there is no flaming. We are aware that many may feel that their writing is inadequate or that they have nothing valuable to contribute, but we encourage all to participate. Please do not feel intimidated here--we are all friends. Even a short "I agree" or "Well said" is appreciated. The only stupid questions are the ones that are not asked. Our Mission Statement

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
