The Bread of Life

With all of the recent discussion about preparing for the future and storing food so our families will not go without, it is good to remember the importance of spiritual preparation and nourishment.
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
The manna of the Old Testament as well as the shew bread in the Tabernacle prefigured the life-giving Atonement of the Savior. And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: …And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD. And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD. Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute. Leviticus 24:5-9
Still Hungry
How strange
that priests who
placed the loaves of
His perpetual presence
on shew bread table
did not know Him
when He came.
Faithfully they offered
fine flour and frankincense,
in the holy place
ate stale cakes, and
refused the Bread of Life.

May we be both spiritually and physically nourished today and in the months ahead.

That is a sweet poem. It makes me see it in a totally new way. Its so sad that the priests didn’t recognize the person it was all about.

As I take the sacrament of the Lord’s supper today I will be thinking about these things. This is very profound and helps me feel so grateful for the Bread of Life. Thank you, Sharon.

I love this. Very profound. The Savior gave the broken bread to his apostles at the last supper and was shortly afterward given as the bread of life for us all.
