Sovereignty Threatened
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril .
When big government and big corporations push treaties that supersede our Constitution and do so at the expense of average citizens, it makes people and countries believe that Capitalism is designed to enrich the rich and discriminate against the poor. It creates a backlash that pushes countries into the arms of socialists.
The Security and Prosperity Partnership is making America look like imperialists and is endangering our Constitution and sovereignty. Today and tomorrow, the typical closed door yearly meetings to further the SPP is taking place in New Orleans. Read about how the Canadians feels toward this plan:
The People’s Summit: Challenging NAFTA and the SPP in New Orleans,
April 21-22, 2008On the eve of the fourth annual Security and Prosperity Partnership summit in New Orleans, a groundbreaking Council of Canadians poll shows conclusively that an overwhelming majority of Canadians disagree with the main policy objectives of the secretive trilateral agreement: regulatory harmonization, energy integration, closer security links with the United States, and bulk water exports. The widespread discontent with the SPP agenda sends a powerful message to Prime Minister Harper that he has no democratic mandate for pursuing continental integration with his Mexican and American counterparts. The Council of Canadians will be taking that information to a People’s Summit in New Orleans next week, timed to coincide with the official SPP meeting April 21-22. The People’s Summit was organized by grassroots groups in New Orleans who have invited international civil society organizations to discuss the SPP, its corporate goals for North America, and its direct impact on the lives of communities.
If you doubt the facts behind the SPP, read hard documentation from the following site:

That came around fast. I didn’t realize a year had passed already. Last year, the groups that wanted to protest had to go to a special chain linked area set up for them that was maybe a mile or so away from the SPP Conference. The will of the American people isn’t being solicited or listened to on this issue. I’m glad to see the Canadians aren’t hoodwinked by this either.

It doesn’t seem like a good time to shine light on plans for this kind of thing. Right now we should be focusing on bringing manufacturing back to the US and becoming more independent from other countries not interdependent.

M.G. do you mean we shouldn’t be talking about SPP or do you mean they shouldn’t be moving forward on the North American Union at a time like this?

Oops, I didn’t word that right. The second one. I think it is a bad time for US/Canada/Mexico to be talking about this with the challenges we face right now. We need to strengthen America.
