Attitudes

Yesterday I was reminded of how unpopular my posts on the struggling economy were a few months ago and how that has changed. It is still uncomfortable for all of us but I want to praise those of you who have faced reality and continued to return and comment and encourage one another. You are the kind of people that others will turn to as future challenges unfold.

Just a note about what I have noticed from some of the internet chatter about recent events in the economy. Although most of the comments have been constructive, some have not. Those who encourage others to work toward personal preparedness seem to be motivated by concern for their fellow man. Most of us are not trying to panic or alarm anyone. We are careful not to put time tables on anything. We urge people to prepare as they are able.

Conversely, there are some who respond in a negative or angry way to unsettling information or to the people who recommend emergency preparedness. I believe this attitude stems from fear and a refusal to think of things that create that feeling of fear. Some of the comments I have read (not on this site) come across in an arrogant, superior manner. They accuse those who believe in preparing of spreading panic. This was the prevailing attitude during the thirties in Germany. The peer pressure from the short-sighted arrogant populace silenced those who lifted a voice of warning about economic and political changes. I still believe that fear is the underlying motivator to what comes across as arrogant so I don’t get angry with people who respond this way. We need to patiently encourage or simply leave alone those who cover their ears. That is their choice and I don’t take their anger personally.

We will try not to solely focus on distressing topics but I’ll take the criticism for alerting our readers to the situation so I don’t later have to feel the guilt. I do know that the things the prophets wrote about are true and will come to pass. Many of them bear witness of each other and take away the flimsy argument that these things are allegorical. If they are, that means the Second Coming is also allegorical and thus, that Christ Himself is allegorical. I believe in the reality of God and I believe His words will come to pass. Preparing spiritually is most important but physical preparation is also important so we can help build up strong families and societies.

For those who are reading and trying to discern the signs of the times, I hope all of our shoulders are strong enough to take a little criticism. If our motivation is love, we should be just fine.

Good advice not to get mad at people who react with anger or stupid remarks. It makes sense that they are only scared. I’m glad you shared that perspective. I have so many relatives who are like that. I have been pretty frustrated because they think I am weird to follow the advice of the prophet. They don’t say it like that but they tell me there are better things I could put the money to. I have a brother who says it is irresponsible for me to lay up a year’s food storage when my college fund might not be enough for my kids. I am still working on it but in the meantime, if something happens to the economy, I think it might be important to keep the kids alive so they can go to college.

I’ve never cared much about the negative opinions of others. I’ve been suggesting to my friends that they get prepared and some listen and some don’t. I’ve even had a couple of nasty comments but I don’t let it get to me. How much worse we would feel if we didn’t say anything when the situation gets worse. It’s kind of funny Joy mentions the arrogance. That is how two of my friends acted. It was as if they thought I was an idiot and that they knew something I didn’t and some day I would see how stupid I was. Basically, at this point if people can’t open their eyes enough to see there are problems and the potential for a lot more, then I worry about their ability to reason. I agree with Benjamin that I don’t see people in this community panicking.

Nasty comments come from nasty hearts…not always I know, but generally all the nasty comments I have ever gotten in my life come from those who are nasty people.

I want to encourage everyone to go out and keep spreading the word and encourage others to do whatever it is that they need to. If they reply meanly tell them to suck it through a straw!! HAhahaha just kidding just dont take their comment to heart and keep holding on to that I Told You So til the time comes… :)

Weird how people with little information act all superior to people who have studied and learned. They’ll know someday.

Ignorance feeds on itself. If their are two people who have solid facts and eight who have the same opinion then they assume they are correct. I have noticed this in school and that is mainly what stops me from talking about anything important. Students get most of their info from the same source and that makes them all have similar beliefs. I wish they would actually research what they heard.

Our Mission Statement

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
