Arizona School Hands Out Condoms for Prom Night
Posted by Terrie Soberg under: Judaeo-Christian Values Under Attack; What's News .
I received this from one of our readers, Bunny. I am not sure how much effect people from outside of their school district will have in contacting the school board, but it can’t hurt!
Arizona School Hands Out Condoms for Prom Night
School board is setting the standard pretty low.
Students in Bisbee, Ariz., attending this year’s prom will receive a prom bag that includes condoms — a decision that horrified some in the community.
“This is one of the most shocking things I’ve seen,” said Peter Gentala, general counsel for The Center for Arizona Policy. “Educators, of all people, should know that young people respond to expectations.
“You have an entire school board with only one dissenting vote saying that they expect young people in the Bisbee school district to be sexually active on prom night.”
Linda Klepacki, sexual health analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the school board should set higher standards for students.
“Don’t assume and don’t give the impression that every one of those teenagers is expected to have sex that night,” she said.
Gentala said parents can bring about positive change. “The most important thing right now would be to hold the school board accountable,” he said, “particularly the four members who voted ‘Yes.’ ”
TAKE ACTION
Ask the school board in the Bisbee Unified School District to rethink its decision to hand out condoms to prom-goers.

Holy cow! Haven’t any of these idiots even learned about people living up to expectations? My wife is always tellling me about that and I thought educational experts would understand that.

If my daughter was old enough and wanted to go to that prom I wouldn’t let her. What a message to send.

I would expect this in New York but I thought the west was a little more conservative and religious. I hope that community raises hell about this. Don’t think this king of thing doesn’t trickle down to the younger kids and leave a lasting impression.

Things are going down hill fast. Have you noticed how raunchy TV has gotten lately? And commercials and movies and internet messages are in front of our kids constantly. For them to also get the message from school officials like this is the final straw. How can kids stand up to this kind of pressure?

Dont know what all y’all are so upset about with this business. I keep mine on my kitchen table. Myself I prefer mint. Yum. Salt and pepper are important an all but my favorite are the condimints.

No Stumpy NO! Condiments are not what we are talking about. Go pull some weeds and clear your head.
This really really makes me mad. It sounds like the northeast all right. We have been fighting things like middle schoolers practicing putting condoms on cucumbers here in the south and so far we have been making a difference but it is an ongoing war.

Oh Stumpy, I’m sorry. Don’t be sad. You don’t have to go weed if you don’t want to. This is an important subject so you should just say something like these school board members are very naughty and should be spanked. That sounds like you.

okay Saddened.
Could all women on the school board of that dumb school in Arizona git there behinds on over to my house so I can spank y’all.
Saddened Says:

um…well, I guess that’s a little better…I think. Or maybe you should stick to talking about salt and pepper.

I vote for Stumpy doing what ever he has to for good breath.
And on the Arizona thing, that’s sick. If parents knew how much young people are effected by things like this they would never do this. It’s like sky writing “HAVE SEX”.

This is one of the hot button issues for me. The break down of the American family is at the top of my list of what is going wrong and the promotion of immorality is one of the big factors in that. Infidelity is glorified in entertainment. Just say no needs to be for more than drugs.

We should not be surprised about this. If we have followed the trends of the high school kids, we would have seen the downward trend of this generation. For the past decade or so, more and more of moral-minded youths have skipped their own high school proms, and instead, attend the dance hosted by churches, concerned parents or such. The major reason for this, up to now, was because of the inappropriate behaviors and music, not to mention the peer pressure to be immodest with their clothes. Many of schools do have chaperons, but they really do not do much other than ensuring the kids’ lives are not at risk (reading, no drugs or violence), and that is it. Many of the kids have been dancing “dirty” or rave-like, where they would rub their bodies against each other and such. If you have been rubbing against each other, you cannot help not having to “follow through”.
This situation with Bisbee is such a big deal because it’s now known to general public of what has been going on at an so-called important event that we already should not having our kids attending since at least 10 years ago. Many of those chaperons have pockets full of condoms to pass out to those students all of those years. Since many of school guidance counselors already are doing it during the school hours, so why would it matter that they are doing it during the time when kids are mostly likely to be sexual active.
The biggest question here, then, is, can we parents do something about it? We have allowed this to happen for so long that it may be next to impossibility to stop it, especially when most of the kids already have more exposure to sexuality than ever. It may be simpler to have our youths skip it completely, and attend those dances hosted by churches and other moral-minded organiztions. But yeah, for many schools in many parts, there still are hopes. They do have the committees that parents could get involved. We should do so!

My prom is next Saturday. I live in a small town school. Nearly half of the population is Mormon and most of the rest is Catholic or of some other Christian faith. This kind of thing would never happen hear and I am so glad. I do know people who probably spend the night together though but not many. My community is really cool like that.
The TV is getting very bad. All my favorite shows either have dirty scenes or dirty commercials and that makes me mad.

Our community is really old-fashioned thank goodness. SGS, I think in most places concerned parents should definitely follow your advice. It is very hard to find prom dresses that are classy and not immodest. What I did for my daughter last year and the year before was have little jackets made to turn the dress modest. Last year it was black velvet with little capped sleeves and cut away spanish style. People raved about it but the year before it was silver sequined and her friends were nuts about it. In a group picture the guys were trying to crowd in by her because they wanted to be by the flashy little jacket. Modesty can be cool.
I had no idea things were so bad at most proms until reading the comments by SGS. Very sad. Another thing that can be done is have them be in a group and have parental approval of who that group is.

Bryon, find a girl from your town to marry and after college go back there to settle and help keep it the way it is now. I’m glad to know there are kids like you out there. I have some grandkids that have gone astray and it is a hard thing to watch. They were taught the Bible when they were little so our hope is that when they see things coming down the pike that they were taught about, then they’ll want to come back to the Lord. I just hope it isn’t to late.

I do have encouraging news for you parents out there!!! Iffer and I were at the mall a few weeks ago in Nordstrom of all places and surrounded by these short dresses only ladies of the night would appreciate we found MODEST prom dresses!! I have never in my life seen a modest prom dress in a major store before!! I know it isnt a big BIG impact on the fight for sexual morality but heck it is a start!
I agree with Joy and Bryon about television… I watched Smallville for the first time ever and Lo and behold there was a sex scene! I was extremely shocked by it and slightly offended. Honestly I am not going to be surprised when there is no longer an adult section in video stores… almost any show nowadays has sex just strewn all over it.
I can testify to the fact that as a young person the pressures put on us by the main stream media, the lousy dirty people given to us as “rolemodels”, and what is considered to be the norm is overwhelming at times. I have lived in many different places and I am glad that the town I live in now is virtually immune to all that!
I ask all of you adults to help out the youth. Help us to learn to set precedents for morality within our lives and the lives of our future children! If we all stand together it will be harder to break!

Wow, okay now I have more hope for the future with young people like this around. Not only that, they actually care about what is going on in the world too. Cudos.
