Family Leader–Ironic to Kick Out the Boy Scouts

I received this from the Family Leader. This just goes to show how the world is oblivious to things that are so obvious to us:
The Philadelphia City Council is kicking the Boy Scouts out of their downtown headquarters on May 31st because they prohibit adult leaders who are homosexuals from participating in Scouting and insist on the right to determine their own membership policy. A coalition to save the Philadelphia Scouts is sending a letter to all the media in the area about how ironical this is:
“Philadelphia has the highest murder rate of all major U.S. cities and one of the highest overall crime rates. One-in-thirteen young black males in the city was shot or killed in the past 5 years. Over 1,000 youth under age 24 were shot in 2006 alone. Philadelphia has one of the highest high school dropout rates of all major cities and is among the highest in gang membership, gang violence and drug use.
“One answer to this crisis facing Philadelphia’s youth is the Boy Scouts of America. For nearly 100 years, the Scouts have helped young men develop into responsible and contributing citizens. Scouting is particularly important for inner city youths, who often live in fatherless homes. The Scouts’ Philadelphia Cradle of Liberty Council is the third largest in the nation, serving some 64,000 boys, thousands of whom live in the inner city or are otherwise at risk.
“But instead of embracing the Boy Scouts, the Philadelphia City Council is harassing them over their national policy of excluding adult leaders who are avowed homosexuals. Despite the fact that 80 years ago the Scouts built their headquarters building and entered into an agreement with the city to lease it back for $1 a year in perpetuity, the city is now using a tortu red interpretation of a non-discrimination ordinance to force the Scouts to either pay more than $200,000 a year in rent on this building or vacate it!

Holy cow this makes me mad. Maybe its because I got a few under my belt right now but this sure makes me want to punch someone. What’s happening to our country?

I don’t have anything under my belt right now Hank and I’m still mad. Tolerance is a one way street with the libs. We have to tolerate all there beliefs and they won’t tolerate any of ours. Our beliefs are all hate speech. Well as far as I’m concerned there actions towards the boy scouts is hate speech.

If it wasn’t for churches the scout program would probably fold. It is ironic that this would be happening in the cradle of freedom. Those statistics about Philadelphia are heart breaking. I was an eagle scout and I know how valuable the program is.

There have been a lot of instances where scout leaders took advantage of boys while camping. How could people want homosexuals to be alone with young boys? I know most of them wouldn’t take advantage of the situation but still some would and that isn’t a chance that should be taken.
