Anti-Romney Campaign
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2008 .
Almost all of the people who were part of this ad against Romney were Huckabee supporters. The scuttlebutt is that Huckabee is still vying for the VP spot and his supporters are hoping this will take out the hated Romney from contention.
McCain warned against naming Romney
More than 20 social-conservative leaders purchased a full-page ad in an Arizona paper warning Sen. John McCain against picking Mitt Romney as his running mate, calling the former Massachusetts governor a “deal breaker” and an “utterly unacceptable” choice for social conservatives.
The open letter to Mr. McCain, which focuses on Mr. Romney’s record on abortion and gay marriage and calls him “unfit to be a ‘heartbeat away’ ” from the presidency, runs in tomorrow’s editions of the Prescott Daily Courier. It’s dominated by block type words “No Mitt.”
The ad is timed to coincide with a McCain rally tomorrow on the courthouse steps in Prescott, Ariz., where Sen. Barry Goldwater of Arizona announced his 1964 presidential bid.
“For us the bottom line is this,” the ad states. “The unvarnished facts of Mitt Romney’s record as governor of Massachusetts make him utterly unacceptable as a Vice Presidential running mate. A very large (and growing) number of social conservative voters who have become aware of that record are likely to abandon a GOP presidential ticket on which Romney’s name appears.”The ad notes Mr. Romney’s “recent ‘conversion’ to conservative and pro-life principles,” but dismisses them as “not credible.”…
The 26 signers, acting as individuals, include Paul Weyrich of the Free Congress Foundation, J. Matt Barber of Concerned Women for America, Peter LaBarbera of Republicans for Family Values, Sandy Rios of the Culture Campaign, William J. Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition, and several leaders of Massachusetts and other state chapters of pro-family groups. The ad is funded by the Government Is Not God PAC. It asks its readers to sign a petition and send a comment to Mr. McCain via the site www.nomittvp.com.Mr. Weyrich initially endorsed Mr. Romney for the nomination, but expressed deep disappointment when the governor endorsed Mr. McCain for president after the Arizonan had clinched the nomination.

This make me really irritated. First off, they need to learn that facts about Mitt’s “conversion” to Pro life principles. He has always been pro life in his personal convictions.
I just can’t believe all the hate there is out there for Mitt Romney.

Imagine how Huckabee has to be feeling. He helps McCain defeat Romney whom they both hate bitterly. Then he sees that McCain is being pressured to put the enemy on the ticket. The sense of betrayal he must have would be terrific. Huckabee knows how to hold a grudge and is intensely anti-Mormon so this doesn’t surprise me at all. I only wish the press would report the truth about the fact that these people are Huckabee supporters.

It might not take a whole lot to sway McCain from considering Romney since he doesn’t like him anyway. This may be his excuse to tell the people pressuring him to pick Romney that he can’t do it. This really burns me.

It’s only twenty people. It shouldn’t be a big deal. Besides, McCain doesn’t like to be told what to do so maybe it won’t work. He might think Huckabee is behind it (which he probably is) and it could disgust him. We can hope.

Rick Santorum has stated that this is a Huckabee camp push. What a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum like this.

Weyrich was a Romney supporter and he got mad when Mitt endorsed McCain. He switched to Huckabee and now he is saying that if McCain picks Mitt then he won’t vote for him. The man is twisted.

His name is really Weyrich? Wow, if he is Way Rich, no wonder he supported Mitt, the candidate for the rich.
Romney’s record on marriage is stellar I think. Anyone who looks into it honestly will see that he fought Gay Marriage every step of the way. Same with Abortion while he was governor. But we can’t expect the truth to come out in MSM. That would be spooky.
