Washington Watch: Haman is a crybaby
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee was warmly welcomed by Israeli leaders, who insist that Iran’s nuclear ambitions and threats are a global problem, not just theirs. McCain, despite mixing up Shi’ites and Sunnis and confusing Purim with Halloween, was on a tour to burnish his foreign policy credentials, accompanied by Sen. Joseph Lieberman. Their hawkish attitude toward Iran struck a resonant chord in Israel, but it’s a view that polls indicate is not shared by most American Jews.
American Jewish voters are not as militant nor as anxious to see US military action against Iran, and they’re overwhelmingly supporting Democratic contenders, Sen. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who advocate keeping up the current economic and political pressure but also want to see more robust diplomacy. And the Bush administration has repeatedly said it will not directly negotiate with Teheran until it first ceases all uranium enrichment.
THE MOST recent American Jewish Committee survey of Jewish public opinion, conducted late last year, showed Jewish respondents opposed US “military action against Iran to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons” by a 57-31 percent margin.
But, according to Cheney, public opinion is meaningless. When told last week by ABC News’s Martha Radditz that “two thirds of Americans” say the Iraq war is “not worth fighting,” Cheney said, “So?”
She followed up, “So - you don’t care what the American people think?”
Cheney replied, “No.”

This doesn’t seem like a hot topic lately but they are still building the fence.
Rules to be waived for border fence
By EILEEN SULLIVAN, Associated Press Writer Tue Apr 1, 2:00 PM ET
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration will use its authority to bypass more than 30 laws and regulations in an effort to finish building 670 miles of fence along the southwest U.S. border by the end of this year, federal officials said Tuesday.
Invoking the two legal waivers — which Congress authorized — will cut through bureaucratic red tape and sidestep environmental laws that currently stand in the way of the Homeland Security Department building 267 miles of fencing in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, according to officials familiar with the plan. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly about it.
The move is the biggest use of legal waivers since the administration started building the fence, and it will cover a total of 470 miles along the Southwest border, the department said. Previously, the department has used its waiver authority for two portions of fence in Arizona and one portion in San Diego.
“Criminal activity at the border does not stop for endless debate or protracted litigation,” Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in a statement. “These waivers will enable important security projects to keep moving forward.”
As of March 17, there were 309 miles of fencing in place, leaving 361 to be completed by the end of the year to meet the department’s goal. Of those, 267 miles are being held up by federal, state and local laws and regulations, the officials said.

McDonald’s CEO: Company will put full resources behind gay agenda
http://faq.afa.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=206&Itemid=35
McDonald’s has signed on to a nationwide effort to promote “gay” and “lesbian” business ventures.
According to McDonald’s CEO Jim Skinner, McDonald’s will aggressively promote the homosexual agenda. In remarks on McDonald’s Web site concerning the company becoming a member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Skinner wrote: “Being a socially responsible organization is a fundamental part of who we are. We have an obligation to use our size and resources to make a difference in the world … and we do.”

Mac, you should try out Wendy’s menu sometimes. Their food tastes somewhat more real than McDonald ![]()

No kidding. I can’t stand McDonalds. Mac, anything at Wendy’s will beat your Big Mac hands down.
I guess McDonalds decided to pick up the slack now that Ford stopped promoting the homosexual agenda. Maybe they’ll change the name of their kids meals from Happy Meals to Gay Meals.

Yeah sorry Mac but McDonalds sucks except for their breakfasts. Carls Jr. was my favorite but my wife doesn’t like me going there any more because their commercials are all about sex.
Fed Chief Bernanke Warns Economy May Shrink Over 1st Half 2008 and ‘Recession Is Possible’
WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke warned Wednesday the economy may shrink over the first half of this year and that “a recession is possible.” Yet, he didn’t offer any assurances of further interest rate cuts.
Bernanke’s testimony to the Joint Economic Committee was a much more pessimistic assessment of the economy’s immediate prospects amid a trio of crises — housing, credit and financial.
“It now appears likely that gross domestic product (GDP) will not grow much, if at all, over the first half of 2008 and could even contract slightly,” Bernanke told lawmakers. GDP measures the value of all goods and services produced within the United States and is the best barometer of the United States’ economic health. Under one rule, six straight months of declining GDP, would constitute a recession.

Here is why I have no hope of peace between Israeli and Palestinians. The Arabs (that is who these Palestinians are) have been doing nothing but brainwashing their children on how to destroy the Israeli, among others:
Palestinian Hate-Education Continues
It contains one of a several quotes, which I want to put here. It reads, in part, from a book the 7th grade children are required to read:
Your enemies killed your children, split open your women’s bellies, held your revered elderly men by the beard, and led them to the death pits. (National Education, Grade 7 (2001), p. 20)
And like our children says the Pledge of Alliance daily in schools, their children,
early as first grade … recite:I shall live as a Fida’i and continue as a Fida’i
And shall die as a Fida’i until it [i.e., the land] returns …
(National Education, Grade 1, Part 2 (2000), pp. 57-58)
Here is what Encyclopia Britannica has to say about “Fida’i”:
a term used in Islamic cultures to describe a devotee of a religious or national group willing to engage in self-immolation to attain a group goal. The term first appeared in the 11th–13th centuries in reference to the members of the Nizari Isma’ili sect of Assassins who would risk their lives to commit political murder, an assignment considered a religious duty.
This article drives home the point that the Palestinians should be the one hold accountable for any peace progress, not Israeli. Israeli have done their parts many times to no avail. Let Palestinians suffer until they realize it is they who need to change.

SGS, pertinent and important information, thank you for sharing this. I have been contemplating blogging about this situation. I’ve written about it some but have more thoughts I think I’ll share soon. This is part of what I studied at BYU and in fact Roy did an extensive report on this issue when he was in Law School there. I was doing a report at the same time so we studied a number of books together. The bottom line is, I totally agree with you.

SGS,
I think this whole mess just convinces me that Armageddon will be very real and very tough. The Lord is the only hope.
(btw, I vote for In and Out Burgers)
