I just got this in an email from grassfire.org

“According to reports, Project 28 (twenty-eight miles of virtual
border fence in Arizona), which the President has boasted is
“the most technologically advanced border security initiative
in American history” has failed.

New estimates suggest the project will not be completed until
the end of the next president’s first term–in 2011!”

Do you think that not as many people care about boarder security as we tend to think? What percent of the people are for building a fence? Maybe not that many, or has our government just decided they can ignore us?

Russian “elections” are today. Many people are “expected” to vote (meaning there will be trouble if they don’t). At least there is more than one name on the ballot.

Russia set to elect Putin’s successor in one-sided poll

by Sebastian Smith Sat Mar 1, 7:47 AM ET

MOSCOW (AFP) - Russians will vote Sunday in a presidential election seen by critics as rigged to ensure victory for Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin successor Dmitry Medvedev, while enabling Putin to retain major power.

Voting was to begin at 8:00 am local time (2000 GMT Saturday) on the Pacific coast of the world’s biggest country before rolling 12,000 kilometres (7,500 miles) west to Moscow and on to the Baltic Sea territory of Kaliningrad.

Medvedev faced three challengers, but his overwhelming victory was almost a foregone conclusion after a campaign in which Russia’s heavily censored national television networks rammed home the message that he is Putin’s anointed successor.

Opinion polls predict Medvedev, currently first deputy premier and head of gas monopoly Gazprom, will win at least 60 percent of the vote and possibly more than 70 percent.

Cave, I think I heard about 80% of Americans feel pretty strongly against illegal aliens so the government is really not listening to us. But a secure border doesn’t fit in with NAFTA and the North American Union. McCain is very strongly for NAFTA even though only 16% of Americans support it so gone are the days they give a hoot what the people want.

Things like this and then their jets that buzzed our carrier a few weeks ago make me feel like it is the old Soviet Union again. I hope we don’t go to war with Iran because with their war pact that means we will be going to war with Russia and they are a lot stronger than they use to be.

Soaring Food Prices Putting U.S. Emergency Aid in Peril
Supplies and Recipients Likely to Be Reduced

The U.S. government’s humanitarian relief agency will significantly scale back emergency food aid to some of the world’s poorest countries this year because of soaring global food prices, and the U.S. Agency for International Development is drafting plans to reduce the number of recipient nations, the amount of food provided to them, or both, officials at the agency said.

USAID officials said that a 41 percent surge in prices for wheat, corn, rice and other cereals over the past six months has generated a $120 million budget shortfall that will force the agency to reduce emergency operations. That deficit is projected to rise to $200 million by year’s end. Prices have skyrocketed as more grains go to biofuel production or are consumed by such fast-emerging markets as China and India.

Officials said they were reviewing all of the agency’s emergency programs — which target almost 40 countries and zones including Ethiopia, Iraq, Somalia, Honduras and Sudan’s Darfur region — to decide how and where the cuts will be made.

U.S.-Russia Relations Chilly Amid Transition
Stalled Nuclear Pact Is Just One Sign of Unease

The relationship between the United States and Russia has entered a period of suspended animation as Bush and his would-be successors try to figure out what to make of the emerging leadership structure in Moscow and how to defuse rising tension. Russians go to the polls tomorrow to ratify Putin’s handpicked successor, Dmitry Medvedev, and yet Putin plans to keep power in at least some form by becoming prime minister.

Washington’s estrangement from the Kremlin became evident this week as Bush and both remaining Democratic presidential candidates publicly expressed uncertainty about the would-be Russian leader. Asked to name him during a presidential debate, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), stumbled over the pronunciation. “Um, Med-Medvedova — whatever,” she finally said, mangling the name in a way that, in Russian, would identify the new president as a woman.

Bush the next day had the name down but, by his own admission, not much else. “I don’t know much about Medvedev, either,” he said at a news conference. “And what will be interesting to see is who comes to the — who represents Russia at the G-8, for example. . . . It will help, I think, give some insight as to how Russia intends to conduct foreign policy after Vladimir Putin’s presidency. And I can’t answer the question yet.”

With us pulling back aid to foreign countries that will make more people scream for equal distribution of wealth. That global tax of Obamas will probable get some steam. They don’t care if they break our backs support so much of the world.

Wow. You are all scaring me again. Looks like perfect storm may be brewing so send the world into economic downturn and bring on that global socialism.

Good source on those articles Jesse. The Washington post is as reliable as there is I think.

Thanks for answering my question Matt. It scares me how they ignore us. Yet we still vote them in as the lesser of evils.

Thinking Russia’s elections, heck, I am not at all at ease about our own. I still can’t figure out why no one is talking about California, and other voting irregularities, at least just to explain why we shouldn’t be concerned.

If the press wont talk about the voting irregularities then we can talk til we’re blue in the face and it wont do any good. And that includes talk radio and I think they wont because they are scared of looking dumb.
