Democrats focus on war costs to defeat McCain
Mon Feb 25, 1:06 PM ET
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic grass roots organizations on Monday launched a $20 million campaign to defeat Republican John McCain in the 2008 U.S. presidential election by focusing their attention on rising costs of the Iraq war.

The campaign, supported by former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, aims to link war spending with the ailing U.S. economy.
“There’s a great concern and anxiety, angst out there among most Americans about their economic security,” Edwards said in a teleconference from North Carolina. “All these things are made much worse by concern about what’s happening in Iraq … People don’t understand why we’re spending $500 billion and counting in Iraq.”
Edwards added, “The American people are going to have a very clear choice this fall — a Democrat who will bring this thing to an end … and Senator John McCain who will continue the war.”

Oil Briefly Spikes Above $102 a Barrel As Weakening Dollar Draws Investors to Commodities
VIENNA, Austria (AP) — Oil prices briefly rose to a new intraday high above $102 a barrel Wednesday as a slide in the U.S. dollar prompted investors to pump more money into energy futures as a hedge against inflation.
Light, sweet crude for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange spiked as high as $102.08 a barrel in electronic trading before slipping back. It was up 13 cents at $100.99 a barrel by afternoon in Europe.
The contract on Tuesday jumped $1.65 to settle at $100.88 a barrel, a record close, and as high as $101.43 after the floor session ended.
The dollar sank to a record low against the euro after the release of three disheartening U.S. economic reports Tuesday that show that the economy is slowing even as prices are rising. The dollar’s decline prompted investors to seek a safe haven from turmoil in the financial markets and the threat of inflation.

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on.
No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA’s GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C — a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year’s time. For all four sources, it’s the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

The whole world is being set up to cater to green living to stop global warming. This is kind of funny actually. What a scam.

Great information Matt. You guys are great at finding articles. This is great news. It should relieve the stranglehold on African energy so that families there can have reliable refrigeration for medicine and food. But their are many forces out there that are vested in the warming crises. A lot of scientists will lose funding without a crisis.
This is another one that social Darwinist/ so called conservative Michael Medved got wrong. He became a global warming Chicken Little when he wanted to support McCain for pres. Romney opposes economic burdens from the global warming crowd BTW. We will face a 50 cent tax on gasoline if McCain Lieberman passes. This will not help the economy.
Have you all seen the video “The Global Warming Swindle” Produced by the BBC?
I think this is it but I don’t have high speed to make sure.
search for a better source - this is only partial. The original is about an hour long. Google video has it somewhere.

Some of these stories give rise to greater cynicism. I wish I could believe Al Gore was in this for altruistic reasons. I also wish our present crop of politicians would follow Jefferson’s personal creed: “Never to engage, while in public office, in any kind of enterprise for the improvement of my fortune.”
Henry Clay, upon his resigning from the Senate said, “Whatever error I may have committed… I may appeal to the Divine searcher of hearts for the truth of the declaration which I now make… that I have been actuated by no personal motives — that I have sought no personal aggrandizement — no promotion from the advocacy of those various measures on which I have been called on to act — that I had an eye, a single eye, a heart, a single heart, ever devoted to what appeared to be the best interests of the country.”
Consider these statements as we approach the selection of new leadership. I tremble when I think how John McCain has betrayed these sentiments while he has been in office. There is a lot of information on this… serious allegations that we could post. Should we post it or keep quiet?

If it is well sourced fact, post it Chuck, if not, don’t.

There is so much that is well documented about McCain. Even if you just stick to that it is enough. Personally though, I’m glad I read the things posted here about how most of his fellow POWs say went on with him. I think how hard we worked against any attempt to rescue POWs and how nasty he was to the families trying to get them back is very damning in itself. One problem with secret combinations is that they hide each other’s works. But we are still encouraged to try and bring those things to light. So we shouldn’t expect every dot to be connected for us to use our perceptions, especially since they try so hard to hide what they are doing.

Good point Ghost. But first lets hear the hard facts and there are plenty of those out there I am sure. This site is good about that and I don’t want my trust in things we read to go down.

Actually just post according to your conscious. I am not one to say otherwise. At a certain point, you have to just be honest with yourself and trust your gut.
