Media Research Center Petition–The Word “Conservative”
Posted by Terrie Soberg under: General; Judaeo-Christian Values Under Attack; Presidential Election 2008; What's News .
This is an email I received from the MRC regarding a petition I signed. I am passing the information on to you:
In the last week, the liberal media have launched an all-out effort to turn “conservative” into a dirty word.
First, Tim Russert said if McCain is seen as “caving in” to conservatives his campaign will be “derailed.”
Then Matt Lauer said plainly that “conservatives have lost” and then compared conservatives to “a 3-year-old” who wants to take the ball and go home.
And over the weekend, The Washington Post’s John Broder berated conservatives and said the movement represents a “limited constituency.”
Terrie, the MRC has been watching the media for 25 years now. These are not happenstance comments by the liberal media.
This is an intentional effort to bury conservatism and turn “conservative” into a political dirty word!
The media are fighting a war of ideas against conservative values. They smell blood in the water and are using all their resources to tar and feather any and all conservatives.
This is why the MRC launched our petition demanding balanced media reporting during this year’s elections.
Thank you for signing that petition. We have already successfully delivered the first batch to ABC, CBS, NBC and FNC morning shows. But I want to do more.
Please forward this message to your friends and ask them to sign our petition against the media’s anti-conservative attacks:
http://www.mrcaction.org/506/petition.asp?PID=15299133
I expect the media’s attacks on conservatives will only worsen if we do not draw a line in the sand.
For example, recently Bill Maher mockingly said he wished Rush Limbaugh had died instead of Heath Ledger! Here’s the actual quote:
“Why couldn’t have [Rush Limbaugh] croaked from [drug overdose] instead of Health Ledger?”
If a conservative pundit had said such a thing about a liberal leader like Jesse Jackson, he would have been immediately banned from the airwaves!
We need 25,000 signatures to reach our next threshold for delivery. Thank you for taking action today.

The liberal establishment better be careful about declaring open season on conservatives. The silent majority is stirring. The Japanese learned the hard way that you shouldn’t wake a sleeping giant.

They are trying to disenfranchise a very large portion of America. I like what you said Jesse. The silent majority better start making itself heard. I actually think a lot are trying but the MSM ignores it so our voice is a bit muffled. We just have to make it loud enough not to ignore.

You know, Ghost and Jesse,
I am not sure this has so much to do with the silent majority as with those who are would-be conservatives. When Reagan was campaigning, he put things in ways that resonated with the inner conservative in everyone. Most people, get their views hand fed by media snippets But when such people are communicated to by a master communicator like Reagan, the inner conservative awakes. Hopefully Romney learns this craft better or someone else who is a new Reagan emerges.
Most nine-to-fivers would get it right if they heard it right. They just don’t investigate it beyond the evening news or local rag.

We can’t wait for a leader to get it right, we have to have a movement that gets it right by the voice of the people. Maybe it isn’t possible but I think we have to try. CTH, I know what you wrote is how it has been but it just has to change. People have to wake up. Leaders come and go, this kind of change has to come from the heart.
