A Brokered Convention is Our Best Hope

Posted by Roy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2008 .

To encourage a diversity of ideas and opinions, we will guest blog any who would like to present their thoughts on who to vote for in November. As we did with Rorin, we will continue to share ideas from our readers regarding options for the presidential election. The site administrators love the following option by Guest Blogger Cavetrollhead but we will present all other viable alternatives for our readers’ consideration and encourage everyone to make their own personal choice. We also highly recommend the video following the blog. It convincingly answers flip-flopping charges against Mitt Romney.

IT IS NOT OVER ‘TIL it’s over! And it ain’t over. A brokered convention is in the works.

Representative democracy means the people’s will is reflected. The people of West Virginia were robbed by collusion. The people of Florida were robbed by a lie. Conservatives everywhere were not represented when their votes were split between Huckabee and Romney. Their second choice was not McCain. This is what a brokered convention is for, to honor second choices.

The following blog suggests that you vote for Huckabee to insure a brokered convention. We just need to keep McCain under 50% in delegates. Romney is technically still in the race because he only “suspended” his campaign. That means he keeps his delegates until the convention. That also means a brokered convention is a good possibility.

So if Romney is not a contender in your state, you may want to consider getting out there and voting for Huckabee. If your conservative friends won’t vote for a Mormon, no problem. They can vote Huckabee to insure a brokered convention.

The delegate count goes to ZERO to initiate a brokered convention as delegates are no longer bound. Then one candidate is eliminated at a time until it is down to two contenders.

At any rate I think it is safe to say Huckabee is a better choice than McCain.

Mitt Romney embodied the conservatives’ hopes.

Brokered Convention = a discussion about what it means
to be a Republican.

1) Republican Brokered Conventions result in wins!

Abraham Lincoln - 3rd Ballot - Won Presidency
Rutherford Hayes - 7th Ballot - Won Presidency
James Garfield - 36th Ballot - Won Presidency
Warning Harding - 10th Ballot - Won Presidency
Dwight D. Eisenhower - “2nd Ballot” - Won Presidency

2) A Brokered Convention gives conservatives a voice.
A Brokered Convention gives Mitt Romney a voice. A
Brokered Convention keeps media attention on the
Republican party for the next 6 months for free! If we
just roll over and go to sleep the media will almost
solely focus on the Democratic contest.

3) McCain has to win 467 more delegates (44% of
remaining delegates) to secure the nomination.
Huckabee needs 639 delegates (57% of remaining
delegates) to force a Brokered Convention.

4) On Super Tuesday McCain got 42% of the vote in Blue
States and only 26% in Red States. Over 60% of
McCain’s delegates have come from Blue States. Do we
really want our candidate picked by States that we
have very little chance of winning in the Fall?

5) 71% of the remaining delegates are from Red States.
If we unite we can force this to a Brokered
Convention.

6) During the 10 days leading up to Super Tuesday,
Mitt asked Huckabee to drop out and for conservatives
to unite behind him. The Golden Rule asks for “you to
do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
For the sake of conservatives please support a
Brokered Convention and encourage your supporters to
back Huckabee. All of the Moderate and Liberal
Republicans that have dropped out have endorsed
McCain. Please gather the courage to rally your
supporters to the conservative cause to push this to a
Brokered Convention.

7) Conservatives Unite! There is still time! Win the
Red States and we go to the convention for a
discussion about what it means to be a Republican.

Hope this brings encouragement and hope. It is not
over!

It is so great to know there is a history for this. Even if it will be hard we have to try because it is our best option, imo.

Great blog and a video I wish the country would have had a week ago. Thanks.

One reason I supported Fred and not Mitt at first was because of the flip-flop label. I will admit they had me buying it. I can’t believe this is only coming out now. I wish I knew what the chances really are for a brokered convention. I wish I knew what was going to happen to our country in the next four years.

Hey Angela,
People vote on the 20 second snippets they hear from the MSM. This is normal. If the MSM is your main source of news then all the candidates need to do is repeat a lie long enough that you believe it. If the MSM doesn’t want to expose the lie, they don’t have to, unless they are forced to by the chatter of peripheral media. I think McCain and Guliani and Huckabee could see that the MSM was sniping for Romney and therefore they could repeat lies and make people believe them. All the MSM has to do to propagate a lie without lying outright is to say, “Huckabee said . . .” or “McCain accuses . . .” and the MSM is “clean” because they are only reporting what a candidate said. But they do it over and over and people believe the lie.

I don’t mean to assume you don’t already know this, but just in case it may give you a helpful perspective. . . .

I am thinking one of the most important things we are doing here and it goes along with one of the purposes up on the side, it is exposing what is happening with the press. Freedom of speech is number one and they should be a part of furthering that. They are working against the truth. I know there are still honest reporters but they can’t go against their bosses. They don’t decide what makes it to print. Besides they get influenced with liberal thinking.

CTH, we can see that those twenty second sound bites fooled a lot of people from Cameron’s comment on a thread below. It is disturbing. I think it would be hard for a lot of people to vote for Huckabee after the way he has acted but if it brought about a brokered convention maybe it would be worth it.

You guys, remember to go to the video and rate it. More ratings makes it available to more people. Here’s the direct URL (wouldn’t hurt to send the URL to anyone interested in politics!)

I didn’t know that Ryan. I’ll go rate it the best. I hope all Mitt supporters see that. It’s great.

So email this video around along with the brokered convention idea so all the Romney supporters out there will know they still have a voice. So many people are feeling lost. This should help. It was fun seeing pictures of Mitt and his family when they were young. What a great family.
