The Split

The line between conservatives and moderates is widening. It will be interesting to watch the shake out of our party in the next few years. The good news is, according to the exit polling, people who consider themselves conservative are waking up to the liberalism of John McCain. The bad news is, the brilliant strategy of the main stream media is working. Their media blitz of Governor Huckabee over the last two days is paying off and peeling away the votes that would have given Mitt Romney a number of wins today.

CNN Projections

Republican conservative voters appear to be evenly split between Romney and Huckabee, according to preliminary exit polls of Super Tuesday voters.

Of those who voted for Huckabee or Romney, about 80 percent identified themselves as conservative, according to the polls.

Only 49 percent of McCain’s voters said they were conservative, a sign that the Arizona senator’s efforts over the last week to placate conservative voters has not paid off.

Romney is taking Montana easily. I will be interested to see how the split shows with eastern states compared to west.

I don’t want to be a downer but I’m surfing around the internet and everyone seems to have given up. It feels dark. I’m kind of scared for my country.

Hang in there Carrie. It is hard watching the manipulation but hope isn’t gone. And it isn’t the end of the world.
Romney was way ahead in Montana but now it is McCain 34 Romney 32%

Cat bit me. Always does when Im to grumpy. Rush told us not to let the @#$^% get us down tonight. Tried not to but the skin just slipt on its own.

That is why we are here Carrie. We are the future.

Don’t forget that a brokered convention is probably on it’s way.

You guys are so sweet. I feel better knowing there are people in America like I see here on this blog. Thanks. Oh and there is a little good news. Mitt won Minnesota. Yippee!

I checked the numbers again and Minnesota completely changed. Now it has Ron Paul ahead. I really don’t understand what is going on.

It’s natural to feel a little down when we see blatant manipulation but remember, we aren’t just in this for the presidential race. We are fighting for our Constitution and this is just one battle. One we shouldn’t give up on yet. I don’t ever want to wonder if I could have done more. I wanted to share the Dobson quote:

“I am convinced Senator McCain is not a conservative, and in fact has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are,” James Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, said Tuesday in a statement to a conservative talk show host who read it on the air. He said he would not vote for McCain “as a matter of conscience,” and described McCain as someone with a “legendary temper” who “often uses foul and obscene language.” Dobson said he would sit out the general election if McCain was the GOP nominee.

I took this from ElectRomneyin2008. Ann Marie runs that blog and is in San Diego and she said the following is wide spread. I have also heard many reports of the same thing happening in Arizona. The City Attorney in L.A. wants things looked into in his city from an article I just read on that. The fast and dramatic changes in a couple of states is a little hard to swallow. There is a lot more I am hearing from various states but I don’t have the heart to go on. Anyway, here is the quote from Ann Marie:

Many people are reporting that they have been denied a vote in this election because their party affiliarions have been changed without their consent.

This makes me so flaming mad.

I saw that too, Matt. I’ll put her link. She titles the short blog, “Major Corruption in San Diego, California”. What I find interesting is that she is not the kind of person that seems to believe at all in conspiracy theories so this is a stretch for her. She runs the biggest Romney site on the internet along with lots of others.

I won’t vote for McCain no matter what in the general. Remember that we are fighting for the republican party too. Without it, conservatives have no voice. Send a message to the party that we will not vote for a liberal republican. If we do, conservatives will never win another Presidential Election, because there will be no place for us.

McCain is the biggest enemy to the Constitution that exists in my opinion. He is the one candidate who can boil the frog.

Matt Says:

Boil the frog. I remember that story from Sunday School. You are right CTH. We are totally fighting for the life of our party now.

I just saw that Minnesota switched again. Now they have them for Huckabee which shocks the crap out of me. I didn’t think the polls had him a factor there.

Joy I have noticed that you have called things before they happen a few times. How do you do that?

Cavetrollhead Says:

Anyone here from Arizona?

Roy Bischoff Says:

Let me answer for Joy who is too modest to blow her own horn. She has a gift for seeing patterns. So seemingly random bits of information can lead her to a conclusion that is not apparent to most of us until after the fact.

Cavetrollhead Says:

CNN won’t call North Dakota with 83% reporting? Romney is up 14%. I think they don’t want to call it so it doesn’t give Romney momentum for California.

BTW, Romney’s son says that Romney will fight on!

Jesse Says:

5 February 2008 at 10:11 pm.

I think we have a few insightful people around here. Mitt and Ron both have a statement to make.

Cameron Says:

5 February 2008 at 10:19 pm.

Drudge is reporting the following wins:

HUCKABEE: AL, AR, GA, TN, WV
MCCAIN: AZ, CT, DE, IL, MO, NJ, NY, OK
ROMNEY: CO, MA, MN, MT, ND, UT

Cavetrollhead Says:

5 February 2008 at 10:33 pm.

CNN still won’t call Montana with 100% in and Romney up about 13%. Are they waiting for people to go to bed.

Cavetrollhead Says:

5 February 2008 at 10:51 pm.

I smell a rat in California. All the counties are coming back with McCain doubling Romney. The polls had thme dead even with edge for Romney.

Our Mission Statement

Encourage people to learn about our Constitution and the freedoms it preserves and to have faith in the Judaeo-Christian principles upon which it is based so that when those freedoms are threatened action may be taken to protect them.

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
