Arrogance and the Wrong Kind of Unity
Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Constitution in Peril; Judaeo-Christian Values Under Attack; Presidential Election 2008 .
We are dedicated to healing the breach in our nation with respect and kindness. I feel I have not done a good job of that regarding my attitude toward John McCain lately. Who knows what the man went through in Vietnam and the psychological damage it may have had on him? Who can judge the effects that damage could have on his actions?
When I read the following article, I had to struggle not to feel anger. However, I do believe it is important to point out the arrogance of Senator McCain because if he becomes president, this attitude becomes a problem. We would feel the effects of that problem since our public servants should see themselves as a servant and not a master.
(CNN) – Republican John McCain said Friday that Super Tuesday could mark the finish line of his party’s presidential race this year.
“Do I think the race will be over on Tuesday? Not often do I ask for divine intercession, but I have asked for that. Yes,” he told reporters on a campaign flight to Chicago. Republicans in 21 states will weigh in on Super Tuesday, February 5.
“From what we see in the polls, there is a very good chance it could be over on Tuesday,” said the Arizona senator, adding: “The sooner we get that done, the sooner I can go to work on uniting the party.”
It is my opinion, after reading many statements by John McCain, that his idea of bringing unity to the Republican Party actually means forcing us to the left. We will be pressured to give up freedoms and values in order to get along. The end result would not be a unified party since there are too many of us that understand the Constitution and will not give up our values. At least I can say for once that Senator McCain and I are on the same page. We are both hoping for divine intervention on Super Tuesday.

This is excellent. I am not feeling as kind as you are Joy. This is another one to email. I hope my friends don’t get too sick of these but time is short and we have to do our best.

You mentioned arrogance? Read this from a cbs article:
“I assume that I will get the nomination of the party. I assume unifying our party is a very critical item and I believe we can do that and get everybody together and working together. And I’m confident I can do that.”

When I went to read the article I found this great news.
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Mitt Romney appeared to be on his way to a win in presidential preference voting by Maine Republicans as returns were counted Saturday from the party’s municipal caucuses, turning the contest into a race for the No. 2 spot.
Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, had 52% of the vote with 57% of the towns holding caucuses reporting. John McCain trailed with 22%, Ron Paul was third with 19%, and Mike Huckabee had 5%. Undecided votes accounted for 2%.

You beat me to that. I was just about to post it. Watch and see how little press it will get.

What are you guys hanging around here on a Saturday night for? I’m holding a colicky baby with one hand so I have nothing better to do. I am starting to feel the momentum swing back. This is exciting. Thanks for posting all the news.

Poor Ghost. Suddenly I’m enjoying my easy chair a lot more.

Hey Ghost, here is something you can do while patting your baby’s butt. I stole this from ER2008 comments section:
Michael and bethtopaz - please see the following comment I posted that I found regarding the Independent voting in Florida and then a comment posted by Frozone. This information has also been passed on to Michelle Malkin. This information can also be found on this site by going under older posts under the title: Conservative Sean Hannity Endorses Governor Romney
A reader at View from the Right says the following about Florida. I wonder if it’s true that there is an investigation going on that an alleged over 300,000 votes are illegal:
I just got off the phone with the man in my county who is the assistant supervisor for operations re the primary. I told him I was a registered Republican voter here and asked about the CNN website stating 17% of the voters in the Republican primary were Independents. I was quite surprised at the details he went into with the numbers with me, but here goes:
He stated that they received a statewide email Wednesday morning about allegations that over 300,000 votes were made by Independents who were NOT registered as Republicans. The Secretary of State of Florida is aware of this and it is being investigated. The man I spoke with reiterated that this is illegal. He said he thought the counties were in South Florida, and Broward was the one name he remembered. He said the numbers were either 314,000 or 341,000. In Florida, you have to sign in and you have to show ID, so they should be able to check the books about what happened.
This is my own bias, but I wouldn’t be surprised at anything that happened in Southeast Florida.
I asked him about any follow up in the news and he said he would call me if he heard anything else. Again, I was surprised he told me this much on the telephone, as this is going to be a huge scandal if anything comes of it. This is the Secretary of State page if you would like to do any follow up yourself.

About the Florida fiasco, here’s the link to the Director of the Division of Elections feedback form:
http://election.dos.state.fl.us/contactus/emailForm.shtml
Here’s my contribution:
To the Director of the Florida Division of Elections,
As many of us watched the returns last Tuesday, we couldn’t help but notice the number of independents that claimed they voted for McCain. Since this is legitimate, as long as they’ve registered party affiliation before Dec 31st, we didn’t think much of it, at first. Then we saw the exit poll interview with the voter that did not switch affiliation, and was encouraged by a poll worker to take and cast vote with a Republican ballot even though he IDENTIFIED himself as an unaffiliated Independent.
This is outrageous! We lived and voted in Florida during the 2000 election, and would have hoped that you would have shown some signs of improvement since then.
We demand that you acknowledge this problem, and give an accounting to the breadth and scale of the fraudulently cast votes. It is unconscionable that you would allow one candidate to claim victory when there is the very real possibly that the outcome is in question (2000 all over again, but at least then you didn’t certify a victor). We will encourage the Republican committee to reserve the awarding of Florida’s delegates until this matter is investigated and resolved, but we expect that you will take this matter seriously and be transparent in your immediate scrutiny of this matter.
We will be expecting a reply.
Thank you.

Fox Poll-Bogus
The Fox News national poll was Registered voters only- not likely voters. The sampling pool is only 297!
Then they claim the margin of error is only +- 6%.
This doesn’t make sense:
First, Rasmussen claims a margin of error of +-4 from a pool 800 on their 4 day rolling average poll. How can Fox News news maintain a margin of error of only 3/2 of Rasmussen’s, from a pool of only about 1/3 of the voters. If they used competitive interview techniques, Fox’s margin of error should be greater. Don’t you think? Maybe the math isn’t this simple, but shouldn’t the margin of error be about 3 times that of Rasmussen (appx. 12%?)
Secondly, if Fox News is only interviewing Registered Voters, while Rasmussen does only Likely Voters, this should increase the margin of error per amount sampled by Fox. Or in other words, not knowing the amount of Likely Voters, Fox News should have a much greater margin of error per # pooled.
Rasmussen has them tied nationally with the momentum leaning to Romney.
Go ROMNEY!!

That is great news Cavetrollhead. I came to report that he won Maine with 52% of vote and they have about 2/3 reported in. Not making headlines but we aren’t surprised.

I love the mission statement and the 3 fold purpose. It is great. Good to have it all focused like that. I’ve looked around the internet and Carrie, you’re right. They are playing the Main win down big time. I bet they take their time looking into the Florida election irregularities. At least until they try and give McCain enough delegates. But with luck and prayer that won’t happen.

Hey girl why you calling that McCain a psycho in your article? Good girl that answers a whole boat load of questions.
All I got to say about that Romney winning in Maine is this. Must have been those millions of Maine Mormons. You know the only ones voting in another one of them barely contested states.

I know I irritate people around here sometimes. Maybe not as much as the poster named Irritated but almost as much. I just wanted to explain that one reason I do it is because I think if things you want to do here are possible then you have to stick to your game plan. I very much approve of the mission statement and 3 points afterward. I am not sure the message will spread like you hope because so many people are caught up in hatred. We are taught in school to support our own team and hate the others. It is hard to go against this kind of thinking. I do like it and good luck

For people that are new around here, Stumpy uses sarcasm to make his points. Sometimes he just uses sarcasm to scare Cameron or tease Iffy but we love him anyway. I have to admit there are times I get on here just to see if Stumpy has spoken.

Peter we want you here. Like somebody said you help keep us honest. Things are looking up today and I think McCain is getting scared.

Sunday Feb 3rd
Rasmussen has Romney/McCain tied in California today.
Zogby has Romney up by two in California!
Momentum going his way.
Let’s hope there are no last minute lies by McCain like in Florida (McCain lied about Romney’s statements on Iraq- and I am slow to use the word ‘Lie’, but even Brit Hume and Bill Bennett called it a lie and I think Bill Bennett is a McCain supporter)
