How The West Was Won

Posted by Joy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2008 .

They Finally Get It!

It’s all about delegates. The delegate count has been ignored for the past two weeks but now the press finally understands that this is what counts in the end. I wonder what it was that made them focus on this issue at last?

Yahoo news page has a video entitled: Clinton and McCain Now Lead Race for Delegates

Yesterday I read an MSM article that said Romney had only won one primary, in Michigan. I was outraged and was blogging on that. When I went back to snag the web address, I saw they had actually changed their article. They must have been flooded with complaints. They added that Romney had also won a couple of caucuses. I have felt bad for Wyoming for being so minimized but was surprised when my own state of Nevada was also later minimized. Every time the press writes about these wins (which they seldom do) they use the same terminology: barely contested.

Here is my challenge: WESTERN UNITED STATES, LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

Your delegates count every bit as much as in the east and it may very well come down to a brokered convention. The west has been minimized and it is an insult. On Super Tuesday, show that McCain was wrong to claim the conservative mantle. Show that we are not that easily manipulated. We will not be moved left.

Rush Limbaugh said that the Republican Establishment has chosen John McCain for our candidate but that exit polls clearly show that the Republican base is not supporting McCain. But enough of the base is being hood-winked by the power-elite that they are selling out our party. With the press and the entrenched Republican Establishment working together, we have no choice but to rise up in a grass roots movement to get the word out ourselves. We have six days, let’s get to work. And for the belittled west, let’s show the country how the west was won.

Grrrrr!!!! I am so angry that, as Glenn Beck says, blood is shooting out of my eyes! He had a caller from Michigan on his show this morning that was furious and called for America to WAKE UP! I echo his sentiment, as well as Joy’s. Let’s get our act together people!

I have been lurking here for a few weeks but this got me fired up. You have got my support. Whatever happens we have to try our hardest or we will regret it. Go Mitt!!!

You show ‘em West. We’ll show ‘em here in the east too. Welcome Pickles. We’re friendly here, well most of us. Just stay away from Stumpy. He’ll eat you alive and he may like pickles.

Exit polling from Florida: Romney got 24% of liberal vote, 21% of moderate vote and 37% of conservative vote. McCain got 49% of liberal vote, 43% of moderate vote and 29% of conservative vote.
Don’t let the libs and mods redefine our party.

Here is a quote from The Hill:

Romney acknowledged that the continued presence of Mike Huckabee in the race is a problem for him and made the point that the former Arkansas governor is no longer a contender.

“I don’t know what kind of support Mike Huckabee will get going forward,” Romney said. “I think conservatives recognize that a vote for Mike Huckabee right now really means a vote for John McCain. So that may have them re-think that.”

In my opinion Rush threw Mitt under the bus today. I think he is worried about his own popularity. He was really upset about Romney wanting to put twenty billion into R&D for the automotive industry. It makes sense when you listen to Romney. How will we compete when this is what other countries do? We have to have jobs to beat the recession. I trust Mitt on the economy over Rush.

Jan, I wasn’t too happy with Rush either. He said a lot of things I regretted. One thing he said was that none of the candidates lights your fire. People who see Mitt in person would not agree with that. I think America is looking for a pop star instead of a mature candidate for president and that is scary.

I hope this doesn’t make the people in the east feel like they aren’t important.

Angela, I didn’t mean the east wasn’t important but that is where almost all the news has come from. I feel badly for the people of Wyoming and my own state of Nevada for how the press has treated us. The press has shown almost no interest at all in the western states. A little for CA but that is it. In fact you could say it has been All Quiet On The Western Front.
I have a prediction. I am guessing that the country is going to divide somewhat with the west going more often for Romney and more eastern states going for McCain. I expect exceptions of course, but we will see. Easterners, please, please prove me wrong.

I certainly hope you are wrong, Joy. I want the people to stand up against this manipulation all over the country. It is kind of funny that my parents didn’t want to vote for Mitt because of religion but finally decided they had no choice since he was really the only choice. Now they are mad. They say almost everyone they know voted for Mitt and they are all wondering how McCain won. I never thought I’d see the day we were all pulling so hard for a Mormon.
