Fair and Even-Handed?

Posted by Roy Bischoff under: Presidential Election 2008; Uncategorized; What's News; World Economy .

Many of us are sad that Fox news, which used to be known as fair and balanced, has decided to come out so strongly against Mitt Romney. We want Fox to know that we don’t appreciate it that when writing news, other than op-ed pieces, they show their bias. It is not even-handed when the article reads like good old-fashioned reporting (real facts with no obvious slant) until the last paragraph where they quote Huckabee and then end the article as if the quotation were factual.

Romney takes Lead in latest Florida GOP

FOX News.com Thursday, January 24, 2008

Mitt Romney has taken the lead in the latest poll of Republican presidential candidates in Florida, surpassing John McCain while Rudy Giuliani continues a slide in his firewall state.

According to a Mason-Dixon survey taken Jan. 22-23 of 400 likely Republican voters, Romney is at 30 percent compared to McCain’s 26 percent. Giuliani is at 18 percent and Mike Huckabee stands at 15 percent. The poll’s margin of error is 5 percent.

Ten percent of GOP respondents said they are still undecided.

“Romney gets the support of most of those voting on the economy and immigration, while McCain is backed by those most concerned about terrorism,” Mason-Dixon managing director Brad Coker told The Tallahassee News-Press.

So far so good, until the end when Romney’s history is re-written:

“One needs to look very carefully at exactly what the business record is. If it’s taking companies that are in serious trouble, buy them when they are in pain, selling off their assets then making huge profit off of it, then that’s not something a lot of Americans can relate to, except those that have lost their jobs because of those type of transactions,” he said while campaigning in Fort Lauderdale.

Staples is one example of Romney taking a company to the big time and creating a huge number of jobs. He has talked at length about how the process works of saving a company, but the press refuses to listen and keeps bringing up the same old arguments. Trimming the fat, doing the hard things, then bringing about real growth is exactly what our government needs. They will fight it kicking and screaming since that cuts into their power base. We need to have a president who will do the unpopular job of trimming bureaucracy before it becomes so top heavy it will collapse upon those of us who are standing under it (i.e. the tax payers).

After the debate tonight I don’t think Fox News will be able to keep playing dumb. They aren’t supposed to spout the socialist left view of hating business. They are supposed to understand how jobs are created and how capitalism works. Staples is a great example.

Your gonna make Stumpy grumpy. Why don’t you all be fair and balanced and stick to what you said this place was gonna be about HUH? Leave the press alone. They are folks to. Sure maybe they are dumb as a post but we aren’t supposed to let them know that. Be nice kids.

Stumpy are you for real?

Maybe the press is starting to get the message. Things seemed a little more fair today or maybe it because Romney hit it out of the park so far that they are secretly starting to admire the man. It will be interesting to watch how the press reacts if he blows out Florida. Staples was a great example in this blog. It could be the press is getting jittery about the economy too and anyone who really knows what Romney has accomplished has to see he would help the country’s economy.

Am I real? I’m feeling myself and I think I am. Well my tongue seems to be kind of disolving so maybe I’m not so real as I thought or I am fading away.

Children! I leave for a few hours and come back to this? Joy, I hope you are being a good little administrator and paying attention. You may need to tell some people to watch their hands off with soap before they come back and type any more! Actually, I love the interaction–as long as we follow our blog motto–Be Kind to Everyone (even the idiots!)

In support of our mission statement, here is our Three-Fold Purpose of the blog, In God We Trust.

1. Defining and spreading an understanding of our Constitutional freedoms for the purpose of sustaining those freedoms.

2. Identifying threats to the unity of the conservative base, and helping people to resist the pressure to compromise values as an answer to political tensions.

3. Spreading the message that the key for healing the nation is showing respect, tolerance and kindness as we accept the political differences of others.
